Requirements
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Three years of experience in facilities maintenance, including one year of previous supervisory duties, is required.
  • The employee must be capable of climbing Maintenance Department ladders up to 40 feet and performing repairs and cleaning of vents, lights, and windows during an extended shift.
  • The employee must be able to bend, stoop, reach, rotate normally, and stand for an extended shift; lift 50 pounds from floor level to five feet; and move furniture, equipment, and machinery 400 feet or more.
  • The employee must meet the Department of Labor Heavy Duty Standard, involving exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly.
  • The employee must tolerate cleaning solutions, maintenance chemicals, heavy dust, temperatures around 100 degrees, and excessive noise for extended shifts.
  • The employee must be capable of operating outside grounds equipment.
  • The employee must be capable of operating and setting up in-house maintenance tools and machinery.
  • The employee must be capable of working all three shifts alone.
  • The employee must be capable of operating and driving hospital vehicles for trips between cities.
  • The employee must have knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and related maintenance disciplines.
  • The employee must be capable of working all three shifts and weekends when scheduled.
Responsibilities
  • Assign and coordinate department workflow and inspect work to ensure standards are met.
  • Schedule staff shifts and perform maintenance duties when staffing shortages occur.
  • Investigate and address complaints regarding poor maintenance service.
  • Provide training to maintenance staff and maintain staffing levels within budget.
  • Regularly inventory tools and personal protective equipment and order stock as needed.
  • Suggest ways to increase productivity through labor-saving equipment or supplies.
  • Assist with personnel matters within the department.
Desired Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Electrical Journeyman licensure is preferred.
  • Master’s Electrician licensure is preferred.
  • HVAC Refrigerant licensure is preferred.
