Requirements
  • 12+ years of experience.
  • Provide electrical technical guidance to internal teams and external partners, including EPCs, OEMs, and consultants.
  • Plan and coordinate electrical engineering deliverables to meet scope, quality, schedule, and cost targets.
  • Support construction, factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, and commissioning teams with procedures, test plans, and resolution of site technical issues.
  • Lead technical discussions with customers, utilities, and regulatory bodies on grid-connection studies, interconnection requirements, protection schemes, and compliance evidence.
  • Translate customer requirements, tender specifications, and utility interconnection agreements into electrical design inputs and deliverables.
  • Provide technical support to sales and bid teams, including concept designs, bills of quantities, loss calculations, and tender clarifications.
  • Implement engineering quality processes, design reviews, and documentation control for electrical work products.
Responsibilities
  • Lead electrical design, engineering, and grid-interface activities for utility-scale and commercial and industrial battery energy storage projects, ensuring compliance with grid codes, safety standards, and customer requirements from concept through commissioning and handover.
  • Lead end-to-end electrical design of battery energy storage plants, including single-line diagrams, cable sizing, grounding and earthing, protection schemes, and equipment specifications for transformers, switchgear, ring main units, uninterruptible power supplies, and related equipment.
  • Define and validate grid-connection requirements with utilities, including voltage and fault levels, protection interfaces, metering, power quality, and grid-code requirements such as frequency and voltage support, reactive power, and ramp-rate limits.
  • Review and approve integration of power conversion systems and inverters, battery management systems, energy management systems, and supervisory control and data acquisition systems from an electrical and protection perspective.
  • Perform or supervise load-flow, short-circuit, and protection-coordination studies, and support harmonic and power-quality studies with specialist consultants where required.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant international and local standards, including IEC and IEEE standards for switchgear, transformers, protection, and storage systems, applicable grid codes, and electrical safety regulations.
  • Own and maintain internal electrical design standards, templates, and checklists for battery energy storage and grid-connected systems.
  • Define protection philosophies and interlocking schemes for safe energization, isolation, and maintenance of battery energy storage and grid-connected equipment.
  • Drive design reviews, including HIRA, HAZID, and HAZOP where relevant, focused on electrical safety, arc-flash risk, and functional safety for critical controls.
  • Review vendor and original equipment manufacturer documentation for transformers, switchgear, protection relays, converters, cabling systems, and auxiliary power systems; provide technical clarifications and approvals.
  • Oversee preparation and approval of electrical deliverables, including single-line diagrams, general arrangements, schematics, cable schedules, layouts, earthing layouts, protection philosophies, and test and commissioning procedures.
  • Capture project lessons learned and incorporate them into standard designs and processes for continuous improvement.

About the company

Bosch Home Comfort makes heating, cooling and hot-water equipment for homes, commercial buildings and industrial users. Its portfolio combines electric heat pumps with gas-fired boilers and hybrid systems, giving customers different ways to control building temperatures and supply hot water. The business sells equipment through its brands' sales networks, with products adapted to regional building needs and energy requirements. Its inverter-driven heat pumps adjust compressor output to match demand rather than running constantly at full power. The Bosch business unit was formed through the merger of Bosch and Buderus heating activities in 2004 and is headquartered in Wetzlar, Germany.

What believers are saying

  • Heat-pump researchers gain human-factors experience: Bosch's Wernau team tests how concealed fans change perceived noise.
  • Retrofits expand the addressable market: Bosch's IDS Ultra fits most existing air-to-air systems.
  • Investment funds technical work: February 2026 reporting puts Bosch Home Comfort's 2025 investment near €200 million.

What critics are saying

  • Demand remains cyclical: Bosch's February 2026 report says Germany's heating market shrank 14% in 2025.
  • Sales coordination stays fragmented: Bosch retains separate brand sales contacts and discount schemes.
  • Facilities work extends beyond normal shifts: Bosch's advertised Facility Engineer role requires responding to off-shift emergencies.

What makes Bosch Home Comfort unique

  • Regional identities stay distinct: Bosch retains Buderus and licenses the Hitachi and YORK names for its HVAC portfolio.
  • Acoustics gets specialized testing: Bosch's Wernau heat-pump laboratory measures noise with 19 microphones.
  • Cold-climate heating reaches below freezing: Bosch's IDS Ultra maintains full heating capacity at 5°F.
