Requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Public Trust clearance prior to starting.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment.
  • An undergraduate degree in Digital Forensic Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Mathematics, Criminal Justice, or a related field, or 10 years of current industry-related Digital Forensics experience as a substitute for the degree.
  • At least two of the specified professional certifications, including CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Server+, IACIS Certified Forensic Computer Examiner, ISFCE Certified Computer Examiner, EnCase Certified Examiner, AccessData Certified Examiner, Cellebrite Certified Mobile Examiner, or similar certifications.
  • Extensive enterprise-level experience conducting digital forensics collection and processing across varied operating systems, hardware, and software architectures.
  • Senior-level experience using industry-standard forensic tools such as EnCase Forensic and Enterprise Editions, Forensic Toolkit, NUIX Investigator, and Cellebrite UFED.
  • Working knowledge of LAN, WAN, and MAN network environments.
  • Experience with dead-box, live, and hybrid data acquisition methodologies.
  • Experience with forensic, forensically sound, and non-forensic collection and processing of enterprise email and database systems, including Exchange, Lotus, SQL, and Oracle, as well as archiving and backup systems.
  • Experience manually reconstructing a RAID array.
  • Experience processing large data volumes.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to apply the Federal Rules of Evidence to electronic evidence within investigations or litigation.
  • Experience testifying and taking testimony in civil, criminal, regulatory, or administrative proceedings.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to multitask and manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Moderate travel is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform case assignment, case management, scene management, and other first-line-supervisor duties.
  • Apply industry-accepted digital forensic principles to acquire, collect, preserve, and process structured and unstructured data according to established best practices and laboratory procedures.
  • Manage digital forensics examinations through case planning, intake, acquisition, examination, analysis, extraction, presentation, disposition, and expert witness testimony.
  • Provide identification and seizure support, forensic data acquisition and imaging, and forensic and non-forensic collection of electronically stored information from computer systems, servers, cloud services, mobile devices, tablets, drones, and related digital storage media.
  • Conduct full forensic examinations and analyses, including processing allocated and unallocated space and file slack, data carving, timeline analysis, Internet history analysis, and registry analysis to develop forensically sound evidence.
  • Perform large-scale digital forensic examinations, including collection in live client-server environments using validated remote forensic software.
  • Recover and correlate data, prepare comprehensive notes and reports of findings, and provide oral and written communications and legal declarations to legal staff, including expert witness testimony at trial.
  • Use forensic and non-forensic tools including EnCase, FTK, Harvester, Cellebrite UFED, and NUIX.
  • Research and maintain proficiency in forensic tools, techniques, and trends.
  • Serve as a source of technical counsel and advice for forensic collection and processing activities.
  • Provide technical reference and lead forensic investigations in the field for junior analysts and technicians.
  • Review and approve reports, notes, and case files prepared by junior analysts and technicians.
  • Collaborate with forensic analysts, technicians, law enforcement officers, and legal experts to identify methods and procedures for recovering, preserving, and presenting computer evidence.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to legal staff while ensuring precautions are taken to preserve electronic evidence and prevent spoliation.
  • Comply with standards, policies, procedures, accreditation requirements, criteria, and interpretations established for the forensics laboratory as they apply to digital evidence.
  • Supervise a team of digital forensic analysts when required.
