About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in Material Engineering, Mechanical Design, Industrial Design, project engineering, or a related engineering function in high-volume consumer electronic products.
  • Good knowledge of material systems and finishing processes, with a focus on engineering-led design optimization.
  • Experience in color and appearance management, material analysis, and reliability validation to establish quantifiable specifications and robust designs.
  • Experience using quality tools such as Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and data analysis to mitigate technical risks and support data-driven engineering decisions.
  • Proven ability to navigate fast-paced New Product Introduction (NPI) cycles and drive Joint Design Manufacturer (JDM) and Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) partners toward successful trial-run sign-offs.
  • Good command of English and proficiency in Chinese, with the ability to present complex technical data and strategic rationales to global stakeholders.
  • Experience leveraging artificial intelligence in professional workflows.
  • A Master's or Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for CMF engineering within NPI projects and drive technical alignment with JDM/ODM partners to ensure CMF deliverables meet project milestones on schedule.
  • Lead the selection and validation of materials and manufacturing processes, assessing technical feasibility through trial runs.
  • Define CMF technical specifications and aesthetic protocols, establish quantifiable inspection criteria, and approve limit samples as the mandatory benchmark for development sign-off.
  • Evaluate early design concepts and propose engineering-led refinements to optimize aesthetic quality and production yield through technical trade-offs.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical failures or aesthetic defects during development using systematic methodologies such as DFM, DFMEA, and FACA, eliminating risks before project completion.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in audio/video product development working with global JDM/ODM/contract manufacturer models.
  • Experience working with global suppliers in a fast-paced environment and availability to travel up to 15%.
  • Understanding of environmental compliance standards, including Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), and experience evaluating and implementing eco-friendly material systems and sustainable CMF solutions in product development.
