Requirements
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree and two years of experience working in a college or professional equipment room is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required, along with participation in the Department of Motor Vehicles Pull Notice System and submission of a Department of Motor Vehicles record as a final condition of employment.
  • AEMA certification is required, or the ability to acquire AEMA certification within one year of hire.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull more than 100 pounds.
  • Ability to adjust to unique situations and scenarios associated with sporting events.
  • Demonstrated organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate with university employees, vendors, and student-athletes.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and proactively address concerns as they arise.
  • Working knowledge of general accounting, procurement, and receiving principles and procedures.
  • Understanding of proper record-keeping practices, including inventory maintenance.
  • Ability to fit equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and guidelines established by the NCAA, AEMA, and other governing bodies.
  • Knowledge of equipment and apparel maintenance and repair techniques in accordance with manufacturer specifications and NCAA requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Provide equipment and apparel services supporting university intercollegiate sports and student-athletes in day-to-day operations.
  • Retrieve and distribute goods to and from appropriate departments, contact staff for pickup, and prepare and complete laundry cycles for assigned sports.
  • Serve as a point of contact for equipment and apparel needs for an assigned sport.
  • Support equipment intake, inventory, management, distribution, and transportation for assigned sports.
  • Generate purchase orders to acquire athletic and sports equipment as required.
  • Maintain accurate equipment checkout records and files.
  • Receive items from local vendors and shipments to USC Athletics, prepare them for distribution, and stamp names or numbers on equipment for tracking.
  • Store sporting equipment appropriately when not in use and assist with fitting athletic equipment and apparel to individual athletes.
  • Support apparel inventory, tracking, storage, and distribution.
  • Maintain promotional apparel display walls as required.
  • Assist with packing and unloading equipment.
  • Serve as the primary contact for on-field needs during team games and provide technical equipment assistance, including ball machines, loudspeakers, and scoreboards.
  • Support equipment and apparel inventory management.
  • Travel to assigned athletic games to perform equipment maintenance responsibilities.
  • Attend national training seminars and conferences on athletic equipment techniques and advancements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Desired Qualifications
  • Three years of experience working in a college or professional equipment room.
  • Knowledge of and experience working in higher education.
  • Understanding of the unique culture and needs of college athletes.
  • Experience working in higher education and/or a sports-related field.
