About the Job

Requirements

  • A track record working in AI, currently undertaking AI inference or training as a key part of the role.
  • Demonstrable hands-on expertise with popular AI frameworks.
  • Ability to prioritize opportunities independently and deliver results on time.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Availability for domestic and international travel, approximately 10–20% annually.
  • Good English language skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support winning new AI business by enabling customers to execute AI workloads on AMD Instinct GPUs and EYC CPUs, and support partners in RFP responses by testing requested workloads.
  • Liaise with and advise customers and partners through proofs of concept, presentations, and training; proofs of concept may be application- or system/MLOps-oriented.
  • Execute popular and customer-driven AI inference and training workloads, generate results, characterize AI performance on AMD hardware, assess how system and software choices affect performance, and compare performance with competitors.
  • Run training and inference performance investigations using common frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and JAX, and using MLPerf and Hugging Face.
  • Build internal and external technical documentation, including AMD internal guides, white papers, tuning guides, and training collateral.
  • Engage proactively across AMD GPU Business Unit, Engineering, Architecture, Platform, Software, and Product Development teams, provide field feedback on requirements, identify missing functionality, and work with Engineering to resolve and test it.
  • Assist in creating Total Cost of Ownership models to aid pricing with the bid desk.
  • Own technical resolution of customer and partner issues, submit JIRA tickets, and drive their resolution.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with training and inference workloads on GPUs.
  • Experience executing applications in common frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and JAX.
  • Experience with popular AI repositories such as Hugging Face and MLPerf, and understanding performance and functionality differences among them.
  • Familiarity with MLOps and KVM, Kubernetes, OpenStack, or OpenShift.
  • Understanding of system-level hardware design and its impact on performance.
  • Understanding how software stack choices—including frameworks, precision, compilers, libraries, and middleware applications—affect performance.
  • Customer-facing experience and ability to write technical documents and communicate appropriately for different audiences.
  • Linux administration experience and understanding of setup for HPC/AI middleware.
  • Hands-on AI experience in automotive, finance, enterprise, or defense.
  • Programming experience with HIP, CUDA, Python, C, C++, Fortran, OpenACC, OpenMP, or pSTL.
  • Understanding the impact of inter-node network choices on performance at scale and creating performance projections for applications.
  • Knowledge of deep neural networks and their design for different machine learning cases.
  • Experience understanding, inspecting, or writing assembly.
  • Understanding memory and cache hierarchy, methods for querying performance or latency at each level, and inspection of dataflow down to the register level.
  • Government-level security clearance.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.

About the Company

AMD

Designs chips for computers and AI systems

AMD designs processors, graphics chips and AI accelerators for computer makers, cloud operators and businesses that build electronic devices. Its Ryzen processors power personal computers, while EPYC processors handle work in data centers and Radeon chips render graphics. Instinct accelerators run AI models, paired with software that developers use to train models and put them into production. AMD sells chips and related computing systems through equipment makers, distributors and retail channels, and contracts with outside foundries to fabricate its semiconductor designs. It was founded in 1969 and has its headquarters in Santa Clara, California.
