Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required, although appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.
  • At least 7 years of experience are required.
  • A Certified Research Administrator certification is required.
  • Strong knowledge of federal regulations, including National Institutes of Health and Office of Management and Budget requirements, and the ability to interpret organizational research-management policies and guidelines are required.
  • Strong organizational, project-management, critical-thinking, problem-solving, computer, oral-communication, and written-communication skills are required, along with attention to detail and comfort using multiple web-based systems.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively in a stressful, deadline-driven environment is required.
  • Strong customer-service skills and the ability to collaborate with researchers, faculty, administrators, sponsors, and institutional stakeholders are required.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for a defined portfolio of research proposals, grants, and programs, including high-priority or complex initiatives, and provide strategic oversight across the full award lifecycle.
  • Execute complex pre-award, non-financial post-award, and closeout administration for federal, federal pass-through, nonprofit, local, state, and internal grants and contracts.
  • Engage with researchers, faculty, administrators, and stakeholders to advance research program goals and foster collaborative relationships with the central Business Office.
  • Contribute to data-driven reporting, analysis, and performance tracking.
  • Communicate portfolio status, risks, and outcomes for each proposal or award to stakeholders, Office of Research leaders, and institutional leadership.
  • Promote awareness and utilization of support services, respond to inquiries, and provide tailored guidance.
  • Participate in institutional initiatives to advance research program capabilities.
  • Assist in testing eBridge upgrades, enhancements, and issues.
  • Develop and maintain support materials, including web-based documentation and resources, in collaboration with Grants and Contracts Office staff.
  • Partner with other Grants and Contracts Office analysts and Medical College of Wisconsin stakeholders and participate in assigned team-based projects.
  • Conduct final proposal reviews and serve as an authorized business official for the Medical College of Wisconsin.
  • Facilitate, submit, negotiate, and award complex institutional grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's or advanced degree is preferred.
  • Related experience in grants administration and contract negotiation is preferred.
