About the job

Requirements
  • Have 2–7 years of experience as a generalist with solid fundamentals, strong coding ability, and product intuition.
  • Have hands-on experience implementing large language models and understand their capabilities and limitations.
  • Maintain high attention to detail and a strong quality standard.
  • Be able to think beyond the code to how systems are used in the real world.
  • Be comfortable working in ambiguous problem spaces and finding creative solutions.
  • Evaluate the reality of model generations rather than trusting large language models blindly.
Responsibilities
  • Create high-leverage datasets, products, and user interfaces that unlock new capabilities and use cases on top of the model.
  • Build internal data-tooling and evaluation interfaces for evaluation, debugging, and data inspection.
  • Develop and own evaluation frameworks to measure quality, reliability, and emergent characteristics across model iterations.
  • Run rigorous analyses and experiments to understand how data, training choices, and targeted interventions impact model behavior.
  • Turn raw model outputs and data into clear, inspectable user interfaces, owning a domain end-to-end.
  • Partner closely with product managers and customers to translate real-world needs into concrete model and system improvements.
  • Continuously iterate, learn, and co-discover techniques for building trustworthy artificial intelligence products.

About the company

TypeSafe AI is an early-stage company developing a new class of artificial intelligence models designed to embed reliable, composable intelligence into traditional software systems. The company frames its work around "Reliable Artificial Intelligence," building models intended to act as dependable components that engineers integrate into existing applications rather than as standalone tools. Its models are positioned to bring predictable, composable behavior to enterprise-scale software, letting AI-driven decisions be wired into conventional codebases and workflows. What sets TypeSafe AI apart is its emphasis on reliability and composability as first-class properties, treating AI as an embeddable software primitive rather than an add-on; the company is currently pre-launch, gathering interest through a waitlist and hiring its team. The goal is to make AI a trustworthy, integrable building block for the software businesses already run.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • TypeSafe joined AWS's 2024 Generative AI Accelerator, earning up to $1 million credits.
  • The August 2026 careers push shows multiple technical openings, including GPU and infrastructure roles.
  • A public waitlist and investor backing suggest founder interest and early demand.

What critics are saying

  • Stealth status and tiny 1-10 headcount make product-market fit unproven.
  • Hiring a founding recruiter in April 2026 signals early scaling pressure and execution risk.
  • OpenAI and Anthropic already dominate frontier-model mindshare; TypeSafe risks becoming redundant.

What makes TypeSafe AI unique

  • Diogo Almeida co-invented RLHF and InstructGPT, giving TypeSafe deep frontier-model credibility.
  • TypeSafe's System1 targets machine-to-machine execution, compliance pipelines, and autonomous agents.
  • The company runs an in-person San Francisco lab with OpenAI, Google Brain, and Meta alumni.
