Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Modulr turned profitable in February 2026 while processing £180bn annualized value.
  • Oxford Edge launched in March 2025, widening BC’s university-backed venture pipeline.
  • Babyzone’s June 2026 parliamentary evidence raised BC’s profile in public-policy circles.

What critics are saying

  • Nordic Capital acquiring Liberis in 2026 removes a core portfolio asset after 15 years.
  • Salary Finance’s 2026 sale to Stream shows BC is monetizing mature businesses, not compounding.
  • If Modulr’s US expansion stalls, BC lacks another flagship fintech replacement.

What makes Blenheim Chalcot unique

  • Blenheim Chalcot has built Liberis from 2011 into a 53,000-SMB platform.
  • Its venture-builder model repeatedly scales companies to exits, seen in Salary Finance and Liberis.
  • Modulr’s 2026 profitability and £180bn volume prove BC can industrialize fintechs.
