Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required.
  • A Professional Engineering license in Montana is required, or the ability to obtain one within six months.
  • Four to eight years of experience in traffic and/or transportation engineering is required.
  • Experience with transportation analysis and simulation tools such as Synchro, SimTraffic, and Vissim is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to present technical information clearly.
  • The candidate must be able to apply engineering judgment to evaluate alternatives and develop practical transportation solutions.
  • The candidate must be able to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
  • The candidate must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, able to manage multiple priorities, and capable of exercising sound judgment.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to transportation engineering projects from planning through preliminary engineering and conceptual design.
  • Assist in identifying and evaluating transportation improvement alternatives, considering safety, operations, and system performance.
  • Perform traffic operations, safety, and planning analyses to support engineering decisions and recommendations.
  • Assist in developing conceptual layouts, preliminary plans, and visualizations to communicate project ideas and solutions.
  • Apply transportation analysis tools, including traffic modeling and simulation, to support project evaluations.
  • Work within multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with engineers, planners, clients, and agencies.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, and supporting documentation accurately.
  • Expand technical expertise and take on increasing responsibility in project delivery, technical tasks, and client interaction.
Desired Qualifications
  • A transportation emphasis within Civil Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience with MDT, FHWA, or local agency projects is desirable.
  • Experience with Civil 3D is preferred.
