Regent Surgical Health develops and manages ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) through joint venture partnerships with hospitals and physicians. It handles the day-to-day operations of outpatient facilities—staffing, billing, and regulatory compliance—and shares in the profits of the joint ventures. The company differentiates itself by focusing on partnerships with health systems and physicians to extend ambulatory services and improve efficiency in outpatient surgery. Its goal is to grow a network of high-performing ASCs, expand access to outpatient procedures, and improve operational efficiency for partners.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • August 2026 coverage cited eight ASCs growing to 32 in eight years.
  • Regent launched interventional radiology at a Texas ASC in April 2026.
  • Regent added BioSpine in Florida and Lewis and Clark Outpatient Surgery in Idaho.

What critics are saying

  • Zero physician equity concentrates negotiating power with hospitals, risking physician defections in 2026.
  • Site-neutral reimbursement changes can compress ASC margins if CMS expands payment cuts.
  • Hospitals can internalize ASCs and bypass Regent, shrinking its pipeline and existentially damaging growth.

What makes Regent Surgical unique

  • Majority ownership at Oregon Surgical Institute shows Regent wins control, not just management.
  • Regent pairs health systems and physicians, proven by Ascension Texas and MGB partnerships.
  • Regent expands beyond orthopedics into cardiac and interventional radiology across 2026.
