Requirements
  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse is required.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state is required.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification or American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
  • Registered nurses hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an associate or diploma degree in nursing must enroll in an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing program within two years and successfully obtain the degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
  • Ability to perform the stated standing, sitting, walking, stair-climbing, bending, lifting, carrying, grasping, reaching, vision, hearing, sensory, and other physical job functions.
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
  • Ability to work in a latex-safe environment.
  • Ability to be physically qualified for respirator use initially and as required for selected positions.
Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to patients using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Direct and lead assigned team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide age- and developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Provide patient- and family-centered care focused on physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
  • Develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan and implement interventions, coordinate care, provide health teaching and promotion, and evaluate goals and interventions consistent with MUSC policies.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment through patient privacy and responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behavior.
  • Participate in a professional practice model, shared governance, peer review, and professional development that promotes leadership and clinical excellence.
  • Apply care management principles to coordinate the effective and efficient delivery of patient care services.
  • Identify clinical priorities and initiate actions to improve patient outcomes.
  • Promote a healthy work environment and accept personal responsibility for professional growth and accountability for actions.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Nursing degree is preferred.
