Requirements
  • A Master's degree is required in a directly related field, such as social science, assessment, or statistics.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in research methods and design, advanced qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques, and relevant software tools such as Tableau and Qualtrics.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate research and assessment results.
  • Effective organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals and groups with differing levels of knowledge, skills, roles, and responsibilities.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize assigned duties and effectively manage related processes.
  • Active interest in ongoing professional development in assessment and willingness to participate in workshops, conferences, and publication opportunities.
  • Five years of higher education experience in assessment.
Responsibilities
  • Identify strategies for collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data using innovative approaches to assess campus-wide student learning and success.
  • Conduct methodological and statistical analyses of assessment research efforts and national surveys, such as NSSE, to measure academic, core, co-curricular, service-unit, and other university goals and learning outcomes.
  • Write reports supporting campus-wide assessment initiatives, WSCUC, and professional or disciplinary accreditors, and disseminate the reports to university stakeholders, including the Board of Trustees, Office of the Provost, deans, and Student Life leadership.
  • Participate in institutional committees to advance and improve data gathering and analysis.
  • Develop strategies for gathering, coordinating, and sharing student success data within and beyond the university, including through web-based dissemination.
  • Identify needs for additional assessment data, design and administer institutional surveys, analyze results, and report findings.
  • Provide institutional support and training to curricular and co-curricular units as they design and implement survey methods for assessment.
  • Act as a key resource in the Office of Assessment and Accreditation Support.
  • Provide administrative support to the Assistant Vice Provost for Educational Effectiveness, the Office of Assessment and Accreditation Support, and the Office of the Provost as needed.
  • Coordinate, collect, develop sampling and randomization strategies for, and store student artifacts used for campus-wide assessment efforts.
  • Maintain document control for large reports to WSCUC and professional accreditors, including tracking, organizing, and uploading report appendices.
  • Manage collaborative group writing projects.
  • Provide consultation and support to program leadership and co-curricular staff by developing resource materials and planning and conducting training workshops in collaboration with the Assistant Vice Provost for Educational Effectiveness.
  • Attend and support University Assessment Committee and related committee or group meetings as needed.
  • Contribute to scholarship by participating in assessment conferences and presenting when appropriate.
  • Supervise and mentor student assistants.
  • Perform other assessment-related responsibilities as assigned.

University of San Francisco appoints Brent Blaylock as athletic director

The University of San Francisco has appointed Brent Blaylock as its new Athletic Director, effective immediately. Blaylock most recently served as Executive Deputy Athletic Director and Chief Operating Officer at Oregon State University. Blaylock brings over 20 years of experience in collegiate and professional sports. At Oregon State, he led day-to-day operations and oversaw philanthropic and revenue generation initiatives whilst supervising several sports programmes including football and men's basketball. Previously, he held various positions at the University of Arizona from 2017 to 2024. Stephanie Shrieve-Hawkins, who served as interim athletic director since October 2025, will return to her role as deputy athletic director for administration and facilities. USF sponsors 14 NCAA Division I programmes competing in the West Coast Conference.
