Requirements
  • Be a full-time student with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • Have experience in photography, videography, graphic design, multimedia production, or visual journalism.
  • Have working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud software such as Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, InDesign, or comparable creative software.
  • Understand visual storytelling, composition, design principles, and multimedia production techniques.
  • Be able to manage multiple projects and meet frequent production deadlines.
  • Be able to work collaboratively with editors, reporters, producers, designers, and other student staff.
  • Be willing to train, mentor, and supervise fellow student employees.
  • Have access to a digital camera.
  • Be available to start work on August 24, 2025.
  • Be available for publication deadlines on Sundays and Wednesday nights.
  • Be available Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for training.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the visual presentation of all Student Media products, including the newspaper, website, broadcast programming, and social media platforms.
  • Direct the planning, creation, and publication of photographs, videos, graphics, illustrations, infographics, and other visual content.
  • Assign, supervise, and mentor photographers, videographers, graphic designers, and other visual media staff.
  • Coordinate visual coverage of campus news, athletics, features, entertainment, opinion, and special events.
  • Work closely with editors, reporters, producers, and designers to ensure visual content complements editorial coverage.
  • Ensure all visual content meets journalistic ethics, copyright requirements, accessibility standards, and Student Media policies.
  • Review, select, and edit photographs, videos, graphics, and layouts for quality, accuracy, technical excellence, and consistency.
  • Assist with page design, digital presentation, and multimedia storytelling as needed.
  • Ensure deadlines for visual content are met for print, digital, broadcast, and social media publications.
  • Train student staff on photography, videography, graphic design, editing software, camera equipment, lighting, and multimedia production techniques.
  • Assist with recruitment, training, and evaluation of visual media staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of Student Media operations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to shoot quality digital photographs in newspaper style.
  • Some prior supervisory experience.
