Requirements
  • The individual must be able to work effectively with all persons and groups with an open mind toward cultural differences and knowledge of cultures.
  • The individual must understand mobile crisis services and be able to coordinate behavioral health and other healthcare service providers.
  • The individual must complete an annual clinical competency test as a Crisis Intervention Specialist.
  • The individual must sign a permanent oath of confidentiality covering all patient-related information.
  • The individual must pass a background check.
  • The individual must be able to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • The individual must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent; and draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • The individual must be able to solve practical problems involving a variety of concrete variables and interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule-based instructions.
  • Minimum qualifications are a Bachelor of Arts level in a related field or an Associate of Arts level with two years of experience in the mental health or related fields.
  • The individual must maintain a current TB test.
  • The individual must obtain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification within 90 days of hire and maintain current certification throughout employment.
  • An annual influenza vaccine is required, subject to approved medical or religious exemptions.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in ensuring agency compliance with Washington Administrative Code, Revised Code of Washington, and other pertinent laws, regulations, and contracts.
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures as directed by the Program Director.
  • Educate staff regarding crisis behavioral health service referrals and psychoeducational topics such as suicide risk assessment and behavior modification.
  • Maintain documentation of crisis services in EPIC.
  • Receive, process, and respond in person to mobile crisis referrals.
  • Document the nature of crisis referrals, outreach activities, and outcomes.
  • Provide adult crisis outreach services using the required knowledge and skills.
  • Apply principles of risk assessment, de-escalation, safety planning, and referral to more restrictive alternatives such as a designated crisis responder, inpatient care, or 911.
  • Refer patients to psychiatric and other health care services as appropriate.
  • Maintain professional standards and follow Sea Mar treatment policies and procedures and applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including Washington Administrative Code and Revised Code of Washington requirements.
  • Attend Adult Mobile Crisis Intervention daily crossover meetings and share relevant information.
  • Provide suicide risk assessments and develop safety plans for suicidal ideation or gestures; provide crisis stabilization and de-escalation services as needed.
  • Perform opioid overdose risk screening and appropriate follow-up, including distribution of naloxone.
  • Gather information about past mental health services for use in developing an individual's treatment plan.
  • Maintain an active Department of Health credential.
  • Work additional evening or weekend hours when required to fulfill the duties of the position.
