Requirements
  • Completion of a four-year degree program in a related field such as Business Administration, or an equivalent level of experience in operations.
  • A minimum of 3 years of successful managerial leadership experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • A track record of driving key performance indicators and meeting or exceeding goals.
  • Experience developing team members through both leading and managing.
  • A strong track record of people leadership experience and positive culture management or improvement.
  • Proficiency with Excel, enterprise resource planning systems, and mobile technology such as tablets and cell phones.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours in a cold environment up to 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Availability to respond to work-related inquiries during off hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Flexibility to change processes quickly and adhere to day-end goals.
  • Ability to communicate and lead safety above all else and create a culture around it.
  • Full knowledge of Safe Quality Food, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, and Good Manufacturing Practices programs.
Responsibilities
  • Set shift-level production plans and partner across shifts and departments to complete daily plans while holding supervisors accountable for production output, efficiency, safety, and food safety standards.
  • Make production, safety, and food safety decisions in lieu of a department head being present and escalate relevant high-impact events.
  • Create effective shift-level production plans from weekly production targets, including incomplete activities caused by attendance, quality issues, or shortages.
  • Communicate the shift production plan and set clear goals for supervisors.
  • Adjust the shift production plan in response to product quality issues, shortages, or staffing levels.
  • Minimize downtime by monitoring production activities, proactively identifying issues, and ensuring supervisors document downtime and corrective actions.
  • Track progress against the production plan and work with supervisors to meet production targets.
  • Assign tasks to Gatekeepers to maintain production data accuracy, inventory counts, and cooler and freezer organization.
  • Attend daily cross-department huddles and relay goals or significant messages to the team.
  • Share production plans with managers and supervisors from Food Safety and Quality Assurance and Warehouse departments.
  • Work with Food Safety and Quality Assurance and Warehouse teams to resolve cross-functional issues involving shortage callouts, shortage investigations, and rejections.
  • Own safety, on-time-in-full shipments, and meals per hour.
  • Ensure performance reviews are completed on time and documentation and wording are appropriate.
  • Hold team members to performance expectations, maintain appropriate staffing in roles, and partner with Human Resources to address underperformers.
  • Solicit feedback from site leaders regarding team performance.
  • Conduct quarterly performance reviews for production supervisors and provide prompt feedback.
  • Develop people-leadership skills in supervisors and reinforce a positive team culture.
  • Recognize strong performance and positive behaviors through submissions, verbal recognition, and stand-up recognition.
  • Maintain team structure, ensure supervisors conduct routine team check-ins and huddles, and step in when a supervisor is absent.
  • Provide positive and developmental feedback to supervisors and work through supervisors to provide feedback to leads and associates.
  • Partner with Human Resources and temporary agency representatives to manage shift staffing and daily time-and-attendance issues.
  • Manage time-off requests for supervisors and serve as an escalation point for associate and lead time-off requests.
  • Work with supervisors and Human Resources to provide disciplinary actions for hourly employees.
  • Communicate performance issues involving temporary employees to agency representatives and Home Chef Human Resources.
  • Make shift decisions for all functions based on department standard operating procedures and management guidance.
  • Ensure Home Chef Good Manufacturing Practices and operational guidelines are followed and enforced.
  • Ensure the plant is clean and free of known safety issues.
  • Coach supervisors on thorough safety investigations and hold them accountable for completing incident reports accurately and on time.
  • Support the company food safety system and quality programs.
  • Lead safety meetings for the entire shift and hold direct reports accountable for safe execution of daily activities.
  • Hold self and supervisors accountable for completing Behavioral Safety Observations, Near Misses, and Food Safety Call It Outs.
  • Participate in Incident Review Board meetings and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Support safety goals and remain accountable for the shift injury rate.
  • Complete required training on time and enforce timely completion of compliance and leadership training.
  • Support and participate in company-mandated emergency activities.
  • Maintain the shift safety record, error rate, and on-time-full-rate metrics and cascade metrics to the broader team.
  • Partner with the Continuous Improvement team to identify non-value-added work and implement process improvements.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of production and cross-department coordination standard operating procedures.
  • Set expectations for strict adherence to standard operating procedures across production processes.
  • Create a culture of standard operating procedure feedback and work with Continuous Improvement to revise and improve procedures.
  • Drive process changes on the floor during standard operating procedure modifications.
  • Participate in the standard operating procedure audit program.
