Remediation Worker
About the job
- Successful work experience in asbestos, remediation, and general construction.
- Must be willing and able to work a variable schedule, including overtime, night, and weekend hours.
- Willingness to travel is required.
- Must be able to clear background-check processes required to gain access to job sites, including military bases, schools, and other public or government facilities.
- Must always be clean-shaven to allow immediate donning and sealing of a respirator.
- Assemble scaffolding and seal off work areas using plastic sheeting and duct tape.
- Position mobile decontamination units or portable showers at work-area entrances.
- Position portable air-evacuation and filtration systems inside work areas.
- Cut and scrape asbestos, mold, or paint from surfaces using knives and scrapers.
- Assist with building demolition and deconstruction activities.
- Shovel asbestos, mold, or paint into plastic disposal bags and seal the bags using duct tape.
- Clean work areas of loose asbestos, mold, or paint using vacuums, brooms, and dustpans.
- Place asbestos, mold, or paint in disposal bags, seal the bags, and load them into trucks.
- Clean and maintain tools, sampling equipment, and laboratory equipment.
- Keep job sites and grounds clean and neat.
- Perform daily equipment checks.
- Pick up necessary supplies and tools from the warehouse as directed.
- Load and unload scrap materials into trucks and roll-off boxes.
- Perform work safely in accordance with departmental safety procedures and operate equipment safely.
- Report unsafe work conditions or practices to a supervisor.
- Perform other assigned related and non-related duties.
- Remediation training and/or certification is preferred.
