- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- A valid state driver's license is required; a commercial driver's license may be required under state or local regulations.
- A passenger endorsement is required if mandated by state regulations.

- Provide safe, reliable, courteous, and efficient transportation service for residents to and from human service locations, work sites, educational institutions, medical facilities, grocery stores, drug stores, and other destinations.
- Assist residents in and out of the vehicle using the wheelchair lift or stairs as needed; open and close doors; and load and unload walkers and wheelchairs as needed.
- Prioritize resident safety and satisfaction and account for all residents when leaving or returning to the community.
- Prepare the van or bus for operation and coordinate necessary vehicle maintenance.
- Ensure vehicle license plates, inspection tags, and insurance cards are current and properly displayed in accordance with local and state policy when responsible for these tasks.
- Follow and understand rules of the road and transportation safety procedures.
- Maintain a current driver's license in accordance with state regulations to perform transportation services.
- Assist with resident programs, including resident activities and special events, as needed.
- Build positive relationships with residents, engage in friendly conversation, and provide support as needed during trips.
- Previous passenger-vehicle driving experience in a healthcare or senior living setting is preferred.
