Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by one year of clerical or administrative support experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must be able to perform sedentary work involving walking or standing some of the time, exerting up to 10 pounds of force regularly and recurrently, or sustained keyboard operations.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the docket by scheduling cases, sending notices to all parties, completing the daily court list for the judge, communicating changes with clerks, pulling case files, and sending warrants for defendants who fail to appear.
  • Monitor filed motions by arranging psychological evaluations and shock probation, tracking boot camp inmates, setting hearings for motions requiring them, notifying all parties, and issuing bench warrants for defendants to return to Bell County Jail from other institutions for court hearings.
  • Prepare monthly and yearly reports on court activity by collecting data on disposed criminal cases and distributing reports to district judges and the district attorney's office.
  • Assess office needs, prepare budget requests, and present them to the county judge and commissioners court.
  • Schedule and process the judge's conference arrangements and reimbursement, prepare the judge's conference packet, arrange prepayment, and ensure timely reimbursement processing.
  • Request and schedule visiting judges when the assigned judge is unavailable or a recusal is being processed, ensuring the court maintains its operations.
  • Serve as the point of contact with Technology Services to maintain courtroom and office equipment.
  • Request office and courtroom maintenance to prevent damage or property or facility loss and ensure suitable conditions.
  • Process time and payroll reports by computer, email, and mail to ensure accurate and timely accounting of reported and paid time.
  • Process communications by mail, email, phone, and in person to set hearings and schedule hearing dates, ensuring hearings run smoothly.
  • Create orders, judgments, and charges of the court before, during, and after hearings.
  • Perform related work as required.
