Sports agent sues MGM Resorts over alleged drink spiking incident.

Sports agent sues MGM Resorts over alleged drink spiking incident. March 17, 2026 Allegations of drink spiking at MGM Grand. Dwight Manley, a real estate investor and former sports agent, has accused MGM Resorts of serving him a drink laced with drugs during his stay at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The dispute arose after Manley, known for his high-stakes gambling and frequent visits to MGM properties, experienced unusual symptoms following the consumption of a cocktail in December 2021. Claims surrounding the December 2021 incident. Manley, a regular VIP guest with access to the exclusive MGM Mansion reserved for high rollers, reported that on December 10, 2021, he ordered an Old Fashioned cocktail. Although he found the taste unpleasantly bitter, he finished the drink. Shortly after ordering a second drink, he began to feel disoriented. During this time, Manley injured his hand on a glass ashtray but received only minimal medical treatment with a bandage. Despite his condition, the casino extended a credit line of up to $3.5 million to him. Manley later wagered $2 million on blackjack before returning to his villa where he lost consciousness. Concerned about his symptoms, Manley sought medical advice the next day and was informed that he may have been drugged with ketamine. Legal action and case developments. Manley filed a lawsuit against MGM Resorts, alleging negligence and misconduct related to the incident. His attorney highlighted that similar cases of alleged drugging had been reported by at least 11 other individuals. MGM Resorts responded by filing for a summary judgment, asserting a lack of evidence implicating their involvement or negligence. However, Judge Miranda Du denied MGM's motion for summary judgment, noting the presence of sufficient evidence to suggest that Manley's drink was tampered with and that he was under the influence when agreeing to an increased credit line. This decision allows the case to move forward to trial, where these claims will be examined in detail.

MGM eyes future casino opportunity at Dubai resort amid UAE gaming expansion.

MGM eyes future casino opportunity at Dubai resort amid UAE gaming expansion. MGM Resorts International has indicated that its planned luxury beachfront resort development in Dubai could eventually accommodate a casino should gaming regulations in the UAE evolve further. Bill Hornbuckle, MGM's CEO, speaking at the JP Morgan Forum: Strategic Growth and Innovation, said the project could serve as "a platform for a casino someday", although any decision to introduce gaming would ultimately depend on policy decisions within the emirate. For the moment, the UAE has approved only one casino development, the integrated resort project Wynn Al Marjan Island, which is scheduled to open in 2027. MGM's Dubai resort is being developed under a management agreement with Wasl Hospitality and will not be owned by the US operator. Hornbuckle said the company is comfortable managing the property as a non-gaming destination for now while maintaining optionality should regulation change in the future. The project, which will feature three hotel towers branded after MGM's flagship properties including Bellagio, Aria and MGM Grand, is currently under construction with completion expected in Q3 of 2028. Hornbuckle emphasised that any future introduction of gaming in Dubai would be determined by local authorities, noting that the development's ownership structure places the final decision firmly within the emirate's leadership. Industry observers widely expect the UAE to move cautiously as it introduces regulated gaming, with some analysts suggesting that a model allowing one casino licence per emirate could eventually emerge. If this framework develops, MGM's Dubai project could position the group to expand its presence in the Middle East should the emirate decide to authorise casino gaming in the future.
