- Diagnose eye defects and conditions such as myopia, astigmatism, and glaucoma.
- Provide personalized temporary and permanent solutions to sight issues based on each patient's specific case and medical history.
- Prescribe medications, eyeglasses, and contact lenses.
- Advise patients on proper eye care techniques.
- Promote eye and general health by evaluating and counseling patients.
- Maintain updated and accurate medical records for all patients.
- Book follow-up appointments when re-examination is required.
- Train patients to use and maintain their contact lenses.
- Refer patients to eye doctors and ophthalmologists when surgery is needed or in cases of severe eye injuries.
- Maintain patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality in accordance with policy.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with company policies.
- Maintain compliance with state, federal, and other regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration, workers' compensation, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Employment and Housing Act, Department of Labor, and human resources policies and practices.
- Stay current with changes in the healthcare environment and act in the company's best interest.
- Glaucoma certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of Care Cloud electronic medical record software.
