Requirements
  • Candidates must be U.S. citizens or able to obtain citizenship and pass a government background investigation.
  • Current knowledge of desktop Microsoft operating systems and other software used in Department of Defense or government offices, demonstrated through experience and course completion for that operating system.
  • At least two years of experience troubleshooting and repairing hardware- and software-related issues.
  • Progressive experience in a Microsoft computer support environment and in a Microsoft customer service and support environment in a large critical environment.
  • Experience in workstation maintenance and support.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing standard workstation peripherals in an enterprise medical environment.
  • Familiarity with cell phones and smartphones, including configuration and operation, and with configuration and troubleshooting of mobile pagers and other remote communications devices.
  • Ability to meet the requirements for an IAT Level II position as defined in DoD 8570-01-M.
Responsibilities
  • Document solutions in the EMTS resolution database, which is available to the Government.
  • Install and troubleshoot Microsoft operating system software and office automation software used on supported desktops.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot common network protocols at WAMC, including TCP/IP and wireless protocols.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair microcomputers, terminals, mobile devices, peripherals, and software as appropriate.
  • Identify and resolve problems with automation hardware, software, systems, and peripherals at the customer service support center, customer site, or using remote tools.
  • Install and configure workstation components, including network cards, sound cards, modems, video cards, printers, scanners, fax machines, software, and other peripherals.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve operational and software problems associated with network and standalone printers.
  • Perform inventory, equipment issue, and tracking tasks when deploying new or refurbished equipment in accordance with policies.
  • Copy stored data and files to replacement equipment and verify that all data and files are present.
  • Configure and connect peripherals from the previous equipment and verify that they function.
  • When necessary, wipe data and files from old equipment in accordance with AR 25-2 or disposal requirements, using software furnished by the Government.
  • Maintain an inventory of equipment from receipt from the Logistics Division through return of recovered equipment to the Logistics Division.
  • After repairs, ensure the system is fully operational, testing workstations standalone and on the network when originally connected; include necessary hardware and software, including network software configuration or installation, for equipment changes.
  • Document old and new serial numbers for replaced serially numbered components and follow equipment tracking, accountability, and defective-parts return procedures.
  • Enter and update service-request and tasking information and solutions in EMTS; document complex solutions or verbally brief IM leadership on less complex solutions.
  • Follow AR 25-2 when purging data from equipment such as hard drives and other storage media.
  • Provide Tier II technical and security customer service and support for all facets of user in-processing and out-processing.
  • Provide computer systems security support functions.
  • Set up and maintain Active Directory account restrictions and user rights.
  • Ensure password controls and procedures are followed.
  • Create user accounts, allocate drive space, and establish drive connections.
  • Acknowledge assigned trouble tickets and ensure the customer receives correspondence from the assigned technician within 24 hours; update the ticket as in progress or record acknowledgment in the notes.
