Onbe appoints corporate payments veteran Melissa Hentschel as Chief Executive.

Onbe appoints corporate payments veteran Melissa Hentschel as Chief Executive. Published. June 3, 2026 Melissa Hentschel will take over as Chief Executive Officer of Onbe as the corporate payouts platform looks to capture more of the market moving away from checks and legacy disbursement methods. Hentschel, who previously served as chief client officer, will also join the company's Board of Directors. She succeeds Bala Janakiraman, who is retiring after nearly five years leading Onbe and serving on the board. The leadership change comes as companies across automotive, healthcare, telecom, financial services, utilities, and insurance continue modernizing how they pay consumers. Onbe said the B2C payouts market represents a $3 trillion opportunity, with enterprises and financial institutions increasingly looking for digital alternatives to traditional disbursement systems. Hentschel has spent more than two decades building and scaling payments businesses. She previously held leadership roles at Ingo Money and KeyBank and served as an operating executive at Parago, which was acquired by Blackhawk Network, and daVinci Payments, which later merged to create Onbe. She joined Onbe at its founding as Chief Delivery Officer before being promoted to Chief Client Officer in 2023. Janakiraman also joined Onbe at its founding and helped build the company into a modern payouts platform. During his tenure, Onbe expanded its enterprise client base, entered new markets and use cases, and strengthened its financial performance. "The demand for a better way to move money to consumers is accelerating across every industry, and I have never been more excited about what comes next," Hentschel said. "Onbe is built for exactly this moment; with the platform, expertise, partnerships, and a team that has proven it can execute." Juli Spottiswood will continue to serve as Executive Chairman of the Board. She said Janakiraman helped build Onbe into a stronger business and added that the board is confident in the company's next phase under Hentschel's leadership.
