  • Minimum of 10 years of software engineering experience with at least 7 years focused on frontend development, with a proven track record of working on complex, high-traffic web applications.
  • Expert-level proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and React ecosystem with deep understanding of performance optimization, state management, and architectural patterns
  • Explicit mentoring of senior-level engineers regularly, leading to results.
  • Significant experience in AWS-based cloud architecture environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of modern software engineering practices, design patterns, and architectures.
  • Experienced with AI-native tools that enhance productivity and speed (Cursor, Make.com, Supabase, Netlify, Claude Code, n8n, Firecrawl, ChatGPT, Grok, Bolt, Vercel, etc).
  • Ability to articulate complex technical concepts and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to drive technical decisions and strategy across Product, Design, and Engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance urgent deadlines with long-term maintainability through team collaboration and strategic technical decisions.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • A strong owner willing to roll up their sleeves. This role includes coding and reviewing the code of others.
  • Ability to implement customer-facing solutions that solve the customers' true needs with exceptional user experiences.
Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Serve as the technical point of reference for the squad and broader engineering team, ensuring best practices in frontend architecture, performance optimization, and accessibility standards are upheld.
  • Solution Design: Lead the design and architectural discussions for frontend systems, making pivotal decisions on frameworks, state management patterns, component architecture, and design systems.
  • Code Quality: Advocate for and ensure the delivery of high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code. Conduct regular code reviews and provide mentorship to team members.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, provide technical insights, and ensure the timely delivery of features.
  • Strategy and Vision: Contribute to the engineering department's strategy and vision, bringing innovative ideas to improve our customer-facing experiences.
  • Problem Solving: Address complex technical challenges, innovate solutions, and optimize existing systems for scalability and performance.
  • Team Development: Mentor and develop team members, helping them to grow in their technical roles and careers.

Nerdy appoints Atul Bagga as CFO, projects $180M–$190M 2026 revenue

Nerdy Inc., a live online learning platform, has appointed Atul Bagga as chief financial officer, effective 6 April 2026. Bagga joins from JLL, where he served as CFO of JLL Technologies and head of global FP&A since June 2021. Bagga previously held senior finance roles at Amazon Web Services from 2016, including finance director for AWS Compute Services. He also served as CFO for Asia at Zynga and as a senior research analyst at Lazard Capital Markets. The appointment follows Jason Pello's departure as CFO on 3 April 2026. Pello helped guide Nerdy through its 2021 public listing and achieving adjusted EBITDA profitability in late 2025. Nerdy expects 2026 revenue of $180-190 million and adjusted EBITDA to be approximately breakeven, representing a margin improvement exceeding 1,000 basis points compared to 2025.

Nerdy returns to revenue growth with $49.1M Q4, beats guidance with positive adjusted EBITDA

Nerdy, a live tutoring and learning platform, reported fourth-quarter revenue of $49.1 million, up 2% year-over-year and exceeding its guidance range of $45-47 million. The company achieved positive non-GAAP adjusted EBITDA of $1.3 million, beating guidance and improving over 1,400 basis points compared to the prior year's loss of $5.5 million. Learning Membership revenue rose 6% year-over-year to $41.6 million, representing 85% of total revenue. Active members totalled 33,200, with average revenue per member increasing 21% to $364. Gross margin improved to 66.8%, driven by a shift towards higher-frequency memberships and price increases.
