Requirements
  • Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse program.
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse in this state.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to read technical procedures and comprehend policy and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to effectively present information, respond to questions from managers and employees, and communicate information concerning a resident’s condition.
  • Must be able to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to residents’ age-related needs.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to nursing care facilities.
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and be willing to supervise other personnel.
  • Must be able to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures necessary to provide quality care.
  • Must possess a current CPR certification.
  • Must maintain all required continuing education and licensing and remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday and meet the facility’s physical demands, including pushing, pulling, moving, or carrying at least 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to assist with resident evacuation during emergency situations.
  • Must undergo the facility’s required medical and physical examination.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants.
  • Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants and ensure nursing personnel comply with facility policies, procedures, job descriptions, and applicable regulations.
  • Plan shift services, programs, activities, staffing requirements, work assignments, and nursing service schedules.
  • Review department policies, procedure manuals, job descriptions, resident discharge plans, care plans, medication cards, charts, and nursing documentation, and recommend required revisions.
  • Prepare written and oral reports, recommendations, medical forms, evaluations, studies, charting, census reports, charge slips, and accident or incident reports.
  • Coordinate nursing services with resident services, social and activity programs, physicians, government agencies, dietary services, and other facility departments.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents; complete related records and forms; arrange transportation; and follow unauthorized-discharge and post-mortem procedures.
  • Maintain resident records by receiving telephone orders, transcribing physician orders, recording nurses’ notes, documenting accidents and incidents, recording diet changes, and signing and dating entries.
  • Prepare and administer physician-ordered medications and treatments; verify resident identity; maintain medication supplies and narcotic records; review medication cards; and report discrepancies.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations, staffing decisions, disciplinary processes, in-service training, employee orientation, and clinical supervision of nurse aide trainees.
  • Provide leadership to assigned nursing personnel, conduct unit rounds, monitor work assignments, receive and give nursing reports, and address complaints, grievances, and staffing absences.
  • Provide resident care including admissions, physician rounds, diagnostic and therapeutic services, treatments, rehabilitation programs, monitoring, assessments, specimen collection, vital signs, and care-plan implementation.
  • Perform catheterization, tube feedings, suctioning, dressing changes, colostomy and drainage-bag care, blood collection, massages, range-of-motion exercises, and care of dying residents as required.
  • Notify physicians and next of kin of accidents, incidents, or changes in residents’ conditions and communicate with residents and families.
  • Maintain safety, sanitation, infection-control, hand-hygiene, emergency-drill, hazardous-material, and personal-protective-equipment procedures.
  • Maintain adequate medication, medical-supply, and equipment stock; recommend unit needs; monitor safe equipment operation; and prevent supply waste.
  • Review resident care plans daily, ensure nursing notes reflect care-plan compliance, and assist with Minimum Data Set assessments and care-plan revisions.
  • Participate in quality assurance, facility surveys, infection-control programs, safety programs, continuing education, and required in-service training.
  • Protect resident health information and facility information systems by safeguarding credentials, reporting unauthorized access, and logging off unattended workstations.
  • Work throughout nursing service areas, respond to emergencies and call-back situations, and maintain liaison with residents, families, support departments, and medical staff.

PACS Group has appointed Carey P. Hendrickson as chief financial officer, effective 27 April 2026. Hendrickson brings nearly four decades of financial leadership across healthcare, senior living and media sectors. Most recently, Hendrickson served as CFO of U.S. Physical Therapy, overseeing 779 outpatient clinics across 44 states. PACS Group has announced that co-founder and chief financial officer Mark Hancock will retire on 30 June 2026. He will continue serving on the company's board of directors as vice chairman. Hancock co-founded PACS in 2013 with Jason Murray, starting with two post-acute care facilities in San Diego. Dr Conway currently serves as CEO of Optum, UnitedHealth Group's health services division with revenues exceeding $200 billion.
