Requirements
  • At least 2 years of recent Post Anesthesia Care Unit or Intensive Care Unit experience.
  • A specialized diploma from an accredited school of nursing is required.
  • Knowledge of patient- and family-centered practice, cultural awareness, effective communication, patient assessment and care, patient and designated care partner education, medication administration and prescription, discharge planning, assessment and diagnosis, and health information documentation is required.
  • A Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania is required.
  • The role requires the ability to lift and carry 40–50 pounds, stand and walk frequently to continuously, and perform kneeling, bending, squatting, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Use the nursing process to address the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of patients.
  • Develop individualized nursing plans of care with patients and their designated care partners.
  • Integrate evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, patient and family preferences, and cultural beliefs and values into healthcare delivery.
  • Identify patient and family learning needs and provide understandable education about conditions, treatments, medications, and recovery steps.
  • Follow nursing practices and protocols to minimize risk of harm to patients and others.
  • Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support ethical decision-making.
  • Use data and improvement methods to monitor care outcomes and test changes that improve patient care quality and safety.
  • Function within nursing and inter-professional teams to provide safe, compassionate, coordinated care.
  • Act as a primary preceptor for appropriate staff members.
  • Participate in hospital- and practice-setting committees, including safety and quality-improvement committees.
  • Give and receive feedback and integrate appropriate changes into practice.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience caring for neurosurgical or stroke patients.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing, completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or an appropriate advanced degree within 3 years of hire is strongly preferred.
  • One year of previous experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting is strongly preferred.
