Requirements
  • Applicants must be board certified in surgery.
  • Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Drug Enforcement Administration registration and Florida medical license.
  • Applicants must have completed an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved vascular surgery fellowship.
  • Applicants should have a strong commitment to patient care and education and an interest in clinical research.
  • Applicants must have knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Applicants must have thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatments.
  • Applicants must have effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Applicants must perform duties in a tactful and professional manner.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee outcomes, quality, and patient experience for the program.
  • Perform daily unit rounds on all assigned inpatients and perform all inpatient follow-up during the inpatient stay.
  • Provide outpatient professional medical services in all scheduled clinics related to the program.
  • Participate in regular outpatient clinics for the program.
  • Coordinate inpatient care and clinic care under the program with patients' primary physicians.
  • Collaborate with physicians and hospital personnel, including case managers, to reduce medically unnecessary resource use and length of stay and coordinate interdepartmental patient care.
  • Assist bed control and other hospital personnel as needed to facilitate patient throughput.
  • Respond in a timely manner to patient-care-related inquiries from patients, physicians, and hospital personnel.
  • Work collaboratively to implement clinical effectiveness programs, including clinical pathways, guidelines, and protocols.
  • Participate in root cause analyses and related activities conducted for the program at all sites of service.
  • Participate in periodic meetings with hospital unit personnel regarding core measures and patient and physician satisfaction.
  • Implement teaching activities for residents and fellows rotating through the program.
  • Work with hospital personnel to obtain mutually agreed-upon program designations of distinction.
  • Provide professional medical services twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, year-round to all program inpatients and outpatients in collaboration with faculty in the section and division.
Desired Qualifications
  • Fluency in Spanish is greatly valued.
  • Five or more years of post-fellowship clinical experience in vascular surgery is preferred.
