Requirements

A basic understanding of numerous computer systems is required.
Proficiency in English is required.

Ability to answer calls promptly, courteously, and accurately is required.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions is required.
Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is required.
Ability and willingness to adapt to change is required.
Clear and precise speaking abilities are required.
A high school graduate credential or equivalent is required.
At least one year of experience in switchboard operations is required.

Responsibilities

Contact key personnel after hours as needed.
Maintain an operational call log of activities, requests, and issues.
Maintain accurate knowledge of hospital disaster codes and announce them efficiently according to procedure.
Project a positive and helpful demeanor while working with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.
Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Answer calls courteously and professionally, make overhead announcements, and promptly forward calls to the appropriate departments, patient rooms, or staff.
Understand and respond to all codes and alarm systems.
Update and maintain staff on-call lists when notified of changes.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of basic insurance concepts is preferred.
Bilingual abilities are preferred.

Contacts key personnel after hours as needed.
Maintains an operational call log of all activities, requests, and issues.
Cultivates accurate knowledge of hospital disaster codes and announces them efficiently according to procedure.
Projects a positive and helpful demeanor while working with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.
Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Other duties as assigned.
Maintains a courteous and professional manner when answering calls. Demonstrates skill and proficiency when executing overhead announcements. Forwards calls promptly to proper departments, patient rooms, or staff as necessary.
Understands and responds to all codes and alarm systems.
Updates and maintains all on call lists for staff when notified of changes.
