Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or a related field.
- No professional experience is required.
- For Wisconsin work locations, a Dietitian license from the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services and either Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification from the Commission on Dietetic Registration are required.
- For Illinois work locations, a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist license from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and either Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification from the Commission on Dietetic Registration are required.
- For Missouri work locations, a dietitian license from the Missouri Division of Professional Registration and either Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification from the Commission on Dietetic Registration are required.
- For Oklahoma work locations, either Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification from the Commission on Dietetic Registration and either a Licensed Dietitian or Provisional Licensed Dietitian license from the Oklahoma Medical Board are required.
- Frequent reaching, sitting, standing, walking, vision use, hearing and oral communication, and keyboard use/data entry are required.
- Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, twisting, gripping, lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0–25 pounds, color vision, and driving are required.
- Rare repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements and squatting are required.
Responsibilities
- Direct the nutritional care of patients and residents with special needs, including screening, assessment, intervention, care and discharge planning.
- Adhere to federal, state, and Joint Commission care standards for nutrition care delivery.
- Monitor patient progress, reassess patients, and adjust care plans as appropriate.
- Participate in discharge planning and assist patients and families with education and needed resources.
- Collaborate with and advise physicians, nurses, therapists, and other care providers on patient nutritional care.
- Participate actively in care coordination meetings.
- Identify patients needing nutrition education and initiate the education process.
- Assess educational needs, identify resources for ongoing nutrition care, and involve patients' families or significant others in education.
- Select, adapt, and develop nutrition education materials and techniques to accomplish patient goals.
- Contribute to nutrition education experiences for medical residents, nurses, pharmacists, and other interested parties as requested.
- Provide nutrition information and education to the community through planned nutrition education programs.
- Use handouts and audiovisual aids when suitable.
- Stay current on advances in nutrition and diet therapy through continuing education.
- Provide input and recommendations to revise clinical guidelines and procure educational materials to support best practices.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
