Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field is required.
  • At least five years of professional experience as a licensed registered nurse or in health administration is required.
  • Certification in Healthcare Quality or Risk Management is required, or the candidate must be able to obtain certification within one year of employment.
  • Ability to navigate an electronic work environment, including electronic health records, web-based training, and communications.
  • Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and Privacy Act regulations concerning confidential patient medical records, medical information, and personally identifiable information.
  • Ability to interact and collaborate with personnel and management across IHSC, ERO, ICE, DHS offices, federal GS employees, Commissioned Corps officers, and contractors.
  • Ability to walk unaided at a normal pace for up to 10 minutes and maintain balance.
  • Ability to lift, push, or carry 30 pounds and perform duties in a stressful and often austere environment without physical limitations.
Responsibilities
  • Enforce risk management program initiatives and enact changes in clinical practice, policy, and procedures to preserve agency assets, reputation, and quality of care.
  • Provide policy guidance, consultation, and review of sentinel events.
  • Develop, review, and revise risk-management policies and guides annually or as necessary to mitigate risks to the agency.
  • Monitor and provide training on the electronic incident-reporting tool.
  • Participate in risk-management activities, including root cause analysis of incidents occurring in facilities, and provide proactive risk-reduction strategies.
  • Collect data, monitor trends, and report results to the Compliance and Risk Management Program Manager and/or Chief of Medical Quality Management.
  • Ensure established standards of care are monitored in ICE facilities and contract detention facilities and jails throughout the United States.
  • Maintain accountability and monitoring of risk-management activities and assist in identifying areas for improvement.
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced degree from a recognized accredited institution.
  • Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish.
  • Experience in a detention, correctional, or residential healthcare setting.
