What You Will Do
As a Sales Engineer you’ll bring your technical expertise to life through captivating sales presentations, dynamic product demos, and seamless product installation and maintenance. Work successfully with our sales team to assess how our products align with customer needs, and craft detailed product specifications to drive customer solutions. You might even create quick prototype applications to showcase the potential of our offerings, often requiring rapid prototyping and client demos.
Position Description:
This position is to provide very strategic and specific focus on the Heavy & Highway construction product family. Will provide technical focus while reporting to the geographic regional sales manager and will be a key regional team member to ensure that regional strategic sales goals are met.
This position will provide regional sales and application support for pre-sales demonstrations to provide key features and benefits of the construction product line while providing this to dealers on an ongoing basis. The most important task will be to provide demonstrations to key accounts to win strategic sales for Trimble and the dealer.
The position will also provide dealer training; dealer pre and post sales support assistance, and some end-user support for strategic clients. Leading local user groups and generally taking the technical lead for regional sales issues will be a key responsibility.
Direct interface with the regional sales representative and regional sales manager in the implementation of regional dealer development to increase sales of Trimble products and services.
Evaluate dealer competency levels
Assist in the identification, procurement and subsequent training of distribution sales personnel.
Work with regional sales manager on assigned objectives to increase presale support.
Respond to, prioritize, follow-up, and resolve customers questions/issues as per defined by the Regions Sales Manager
Interface with Dealer management and sales people
Dealer product training
Provide specialized pre-sales configuration and post-sale implementation assistance
Job site demonstrations in conjunction with dealer personnel to win major account sales
Support dealer sponsored field days, user conferences, or trade show events.
Major account interface by traveling with salespeople to increase sales
Collaborate with Business Area (BA) in new product releases and beta cycles to ensure information and training requirements are met to support new product sales to dealers.
Assist BA Department in maintaining and supporting product updates by documenting customer communications, problems and resolutions to provide information to BA to augment customer acceptance to increase sales volume of a product family.
Assist BA in the development of specific technical communications and training requirements.
Participate in new product releases and beta cycles to ensure information and training requirements are met to support new product sales to dealers.
Strategic OEM account involvement where needed.
Provide secondary technical support to dealer personnel and secondary sales support to end user customer issues
Provide appropriate sales/technical support
Determine if dealer/customer issues have followed correct escalation process
Escalate in-field issues to appropriate product manager and BA Management
Adhere to Trimble Global Services Support Center processes and guidelines
What Skills & Experience You Should Bring
College degree in relative fields preferred, such as civil engineering and/or land surveying, construction management.
Educational background in surveying principles is a plus.
Demonstrated technical capability with a strong competency with construction field and office software.
Critical Competencies:
Mechanical and educational aptitude to improve the understanding, application and operation of construction products and heavy equipment.
Strong aptitude in construction techniques with demonstrated technical capability. Hands on individual. Mechanically sound.
Fundamental selling skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good listener to diverse audiences.
Sense of urgency and drive, highly motivated.
