Lead Teacher I requires an Associate degree emphasizing Early Childhood Education or Child Development and at least 12 units in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development, including required core units.
Lead Teacher II requires a Bachelor's degree emphasizing Early Childhood Education or Child Development and at least 12 units in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development, including required core units.
Both levels require one year of experience with children in a child care setting.
Must hold and maintain a California Child Development Teacher Level Permit, Child Development Associate credential, or a current Commission on Teacher Credentialing credential authorizing elementary school teaching service or a single-subject credential in home economics.
Must obtain valid CPR, First Aid, and Food Handlers certifications within the first two months of employment and maintain them throughout employment.
Must complete a physical examination, TB clearance, drug screen, and provide immunization records for influenza, pertussis, and measles before the first day of employment.
Must obtain and maintain a current criminal background check clearance, signed criminal record statement, and signed Acknowledgement to Report Child Abuse form before the first day of employment.
Must have and maintain a valid California driver's license, daily use of a personal insured vehicle, and a driving record acceptable to the employer's insurance carrier.
Must lift up to 50 pounds and perform the stated physical functions, including standing, walking, sitting, reaching, bending, kneeling, and climbing.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement methods for using classroom volunteers, classroom aides, and parent volunteers.

Maintain friendly working relationships with staff, volunteers, and parents.
Conduct required home visits with the primary caregiver.
Recognize individual differences in children's growth, development, and needs, and develop individualized plans.
Work with Head Start families on identified needs by sharing community resources, providing information and referrals, assisting with appointment scheduling, and following up on services.

DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM DESCRIPTION Head Start (HS) and Early Head Start (EHS) are comprehensive federally funded school-readiness programs for low-income and special needs children that promote parents as the primary educator of the child. MAAC currently serves a diverse group of low-income children and their families in North County; the majority of the participating families are of Latino/Hispanic ethnicity. These programs ensure that children ages 0-3 (EHS) and 3-5 (HS) and their families are provided with comprehensive services to promote optimum physical, cognitive, social and emotional growth. MAAC’s California State Preschool program provides educational and developmental services to qualifying children ages 3 to 5; parents are encouraged to participate with their children and to be involved in their children’s development.
DEFINITION
Under direct supervision, will be responsible for planning, supervising, and implementing the education program in accordance with the policies, procedures, and philosophy of MAAC Head Start, and state and federal regulations as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATION
Lead Teacher I:
