Requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into clear recommendations for non-technical operational and clinical leaders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting findings directly to department and executive leadership.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and working with large data extracts.
  • Strong computer skills including database analysis, the ability to query relational databases, and the ability to independently source data when a standard report does not exist.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent requests and set priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • A bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  • At least four years of PS or related experience for Level 2; at least six years for Levels 3 and 4. Master's degree experience substitution is permitted as specified in the posting.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain labor standards used to determine departmental staffing requirements, cost accounting, and flexible budgeting.
  • Support hospital leadership with productivity improvement efforts, including analyses of departments and processes.
  • Perform labor variance analyses with departmental leadership to support defined productivity goals.
  • Provide project management and analytical support for operational initiatives.
  • Develop and initiate clinical analyses supporting CSU leadership and the management and quality of care.
  • Coordinate improvement processes as appropriate.
  • Provide decision support for clinical and patient safety improvement efforts.
  • Provide routine reporting of key quality and patient safety metrics for the ongoing quality management process.
  • Support the balanced scorecard program and related reporting.
  • Coordinate and support efforts to improve overall patient satisfaction scores.
  • Lead assigned performance improvement teams and support other teams as an active member or analytical resource.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience writing SQL queries against a relational database.
  • Experience in hospital or health system operations analytics, decision support, or financial planning and analysis.
  • Working knowledge of hospital labor productivity concepts, including FTEs, worked hours, units of service, and benchmarking methodology.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Familiarity with benchmarking or workforce management platforms such as Vizient and Strata.
  • Experience presenting analytic findings to clinical or executive audiences.
  • Experience with Python, R, or comparable analytic tools.
  • A master's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
