Responsibilities

Manage delivery personnel and assist with discrepancies or complaints.
Understand tractor-trailer vehicle components, including pre- and post-trip damage and on-route issues; ensure Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) are completed properly, maintenance is completed on time, and fleet repair quotes are approved as required.
Assist with transportation activities, including dispatching, routing, and tracking using OT1 and Samsara.
Travel regularly to cross-dock locations throughout Texas.
Manage, inspect, and maintain the fleet to Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and Johnson Brothers standards.
Manage drivers' DOT compliance guidelines using the J. J. Keller site.
Arrange repairs and routine maintenance, including preventive maintenance and day-to-day issues.
Maintain and complete accurate hours-of-service records, DVIRs, and delivery paperwork.
Ensure all drivers and operators have the correct, up-to-date qualifications.
Schedule and organize team members' daily and overtime activities.
Ensure the fleet is properly registered and maintained in compliance with state and local regulations.
Gather and compare vendor information, including pricing and response times.
Troubleshoot and provide solutions for delivery discrepancies and vehicle breakdowns.
Inspect the fleet for proper DOT decals and state registrations.
Keep breakage to a minimum.
Assess training needs and facilitate ongoing training to support driver and delivery effectiveness.
Handle employee issues, including job duties, scheduling, and discipline.
Follow transit and shipping guidelines.
Check routes nightly to optimize route planning.
Implement plans to increase output, customer efficiency, and profit.
Keep the fleet DOT-ready.

Delivery managers are responsible for directing and overseeing delivery-related operations within an organization to include managing the fleet resources.

Duties

Manage delivery personnel and assist with discrepancies and/or complaints
Understand tractor/ trailer vehicle components (Pre/Post trip damage/ on-route issues)
- DVIR being done properly
- Ensuring maintenance is completed timely
- Approve quotes as required for the company owned fleet
Assists with transportation activities such as dispatching, routing, and tracking using OT1 and SAMSARA
Regular travel to cross dock locations throughout state
Manage, Inspect, and maintain fleet up to D.O.T/ FMCSA/Johnson Brothers standards
Manage driver’s D.O.T compliance guidelines using the J.J. Keller site
Arranging repairs and routine maintenance (PM’s, day-to-day issues)
Maintaining and completing accurate records (H.O.S, DVIR, Delivery paperwork)
