Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering is required.
  • Seven or more years of practical experience and working knowledge across a broad range of transmission and distribution power systems, including planning, engineering, construction, or operations, are required.
  • Knowledge of planning, operations, engineering design, analytics, modeling and calculation, including symmetrical components and per-unit analysis, is required.
  • Practical engineering experience in planning, operations, engineering design, and construction, including field experience and business-case development, is required.
  • Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation and review and approve engineering work performed by others is required.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory standards and requirements, including NERC, NPCC, ISO, and PUC requirements, is required.
  • Ability to initiate studies and activities to identify issues and system needs, evaluate threats and opportunities, and define and prioritize system-wide solutions based on risk, value, and implementation complexity is required.
  • Ability to use verbal and written communication to inform and influence management and support business plans and decision-making is required.
  • Ability to serve as a witness on regulatory and technical issues involving ISOs, siting councils, and PUCs is required.

Responsibilities
  • Develop most new Transmission and Substation capital projects to a conceptual design level ready for financial approval and handoff to project execution.
  • Ensure proposed Transmission and Substation projects meet stakeholder and internal Investment Plan requirements with appropriate justification and supporting documentation.
  • Participate as a lead member and contributor in the Transmission System Review Group, including reviewing and providing feedback on stakeholder materials and potentially serving as chair or vice chair.
  • Provide technical and investment oversight and make decisions for Transmission and Substation capital projects from inception through construction.
  • Support the long-term Transmission and Substation capital-expenditure investment portfolio, including rate-case preparation, regulatory funding commitments, and ISO reporting.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Planning personnel to identify and mitigate Transmission and Substation system issues.
  • Investigate reported Transmission and Substation system needs through prioritized comprehensive intervention assessments, including operations, maintenance, and field surveys.
  • Establish documentation requirements for projects based on cost, complexity, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and review presentations and reports that concisely articulate decisions, system needs, recommended solutions, and planned projects to executives, regulators, and ISOs.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with internal business areas, teams, regulators, ISOs, and other external stakeholders.
  • Use technical knowledge to influence and guide department engineers.
  • Provide technical leadership on complex projects with broad departmental impact.
  • Mentor, develop, and support the team's technical skills.
  • Collaborate across departments.
  • Liaise with and direct contractors regarding company policy, standards, and best practices.
  • Provide strategic leadership and collaboration across operating companies and geographic locations.
  • Initiate, lead, collaborate on, or advise regarding complex multidisciplinary issues across electric Networks business areas, including asset management, Transmission and Substation project technical review, system topology design, reliability and resiliency, equipment standardization, equipment ratings, and protection and control.
  • Facilitate collaborative decision-making.
  • Represent company interests before regional and regulatory bodies and provide strategic guidance on complex regulatory and technical issues.
  • Assist executives and senior leaders in identifying and managing risks, opportunities, and business uncertainty arising from industry changes and proposed projects or growth initiatives.
  • Contribute to business-unit processes and strategies reflecting national, regional, and local dockets, orders, and regulations.
  • Anticipate impacts of legislative and regulatory changes on tariffs, investment rate recovery, business strategies, and plans.
  • Monitor industry changes and initiate responses such as studies, assessments, threat and opportunity evaluations, and recommendations based on risk, value, and implementation complexity.
  • Accept responsibility for personal safety and health and the safety and health of fellow employees.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with engineering teams performing comprehensive needs and solutions assessments for Transmission and Substation reliability and infrastructure deficiencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop practical and innovative evaluations of solution alternatives to justify Transmission and Substation projects and investment plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee or prepare sufficient documentation and deliver concise communications to executives, senior leaders, regulators, ISOs, and other stakeholders.

Iberdrola picks ICEYE's SAR satellites to protect grid from extreme weather

Iberdrola has selected ICEYE to strengthen its electricity grid against extreme weather events using synthetic aperture radar satellite technology and near real-time data. The solution will help anticipate risks including floods, fires and strong winds, assess damage quickly and minimise impact on electricity supply. The initiative won a New-Tech Challenge within Iberdrola's PERSEO innovation programme, receiving over 40 proposals from ten countries. The 12-month pilot will launch in Spain, with ICEYE's Flood Solutions Suite providing forecasting, rapid impact assessment and flood insights. The deployment also includes wind damage assessment solutions for Iberdrola's assets in the United States and Australia. ICEYE's SAR technology can capture high-resolution imagery through smoke and storm clouds, enabling continuous monitoring in all weather conditions day or night.

Wallbox restructures $191.5M debt with Spanish banks as Catalan government takes stake

Wallbox, the Barcelona-based electric vehicle charging systems company, has closed a debt restructuring agreement worth €169.5 million with creditors representing over 83% of its financial debt. The deal includes a capital increase that will bring the Generalitat of Catalonia in as a shareholder. The agreement, pending judicial approval and scheduled for signing on 8 April, restructures existing debt into a €57.6 million framework loan and a €69.1 million bullet instrument, both maturing in December 2030. A working capital agreement of approximately €42.8 million was also reached. The restructuring includes a €10.65 million capital increase, with strategic shareholders contributing €5.65 million and the Generalitat adding €5 million. Participating banks will provide €12.5 million in new financing. CEO Enric Asunción said the agreement strengthens Wallbox's financial position.
