Requirements
  • Five years of facilities management experience is required.
  • Basic heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical, plumbing, boilers, hazardous material and safety management experience is required.
  • Professional licensure is required.
  • Excellent communication and team-building skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership for building maintenance, Biomedical Engineering, and Hazardous Waste management for all Porter Medical Center locations and Helen Porter.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and supervise the Engineering and Maintenance Department functions to maintain physical structures and life safety compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards including Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and standards for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, medical equipment, electrical systems, utility systems, and hospital grounds.
  • Provide direction, coaching, and performance management for the Plant Operations Manager and technicians.
  • Oversee all work performed by the Plant Operations department.
  • Coordinate with other leaders across the organization and University of Vermont Health Network to address facility-related projects, safety concerns, and challenges.
  • Serve as a member of the University of Vermont Health Network Facilities Leadership Council.
Desired Qualifications
  • College education in maintenance or technical education in a building trade with state licensure is preferred.
  • Healthcare facility experience is preferred but not required.
  • Thorough understanding of healthcare facility regulations is preferred.
  • Experience with business strategy implementation, cost controls, productivity enhancement, and operating in a politically sensitive environment is preferred.
