Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree.
  • A current special education certification with proper endorsements according to state and federal standards.
  • Ability to pass a criminal history background check.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including extended standing or sitting, walking, stooping, and lifting up to approximately 25 pounds, with occasional lifting of equipment or materials up to approximately 40 pounds.
  • Ability to see and read computer screens and printed material, hear and understand speech, speak clearly, and follow oral and written instructions.
Responsibilities
  • Create a classroom environment that cultivates learning and engages students' interests.
  • Use direct instruction techniques to guide students through activities that promote social, physical, and intellectual growth.
  • Employ varied instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the location's physical limitations and students' needs and capabilities.
  • Assess students' accomplishments regularly and provide required progress reports.
  • Recognize and evaluate students' learning and other disabilities and seek district specialist assistance or referrals as required.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Explore individual student needs, provide side-by-side support, and develop personalized learning solutions.
  • Master and implement the curriculum and guide students toward curriculum goals.
  • Evaluate each student's learning capabilities and recognize student accomplishments.
  • Encourage students to uphold school values and model mature behavior and good character.
  • Build positive connections with students, parents, and fellow educators and participate in events outside normal hours.
  • Travel to other campuses as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least two years of special education teaching experience.
  • Proven proficiency and experience in the subject of focus and specialty area of the position.
