Job Profile Summary
Demonstrates in-depth knowledge in their assigned areas and obtains guidance from the Lead, as needed. Performs and/or provides oversight of daily production and delivery of work to identify, assess, and resolve exceptions for a specific area of focus. Operates as a technical subject matter expert for their area. Applies knowledge, experience, sound judgement, and business acumen, to analyze, assess, recommend, and implement solutions in a timely manner and in response to identified exceptions with oversight from the Lead, as necessary. Collaborates with other Equity Operations facing departments (e.g., legal & compliance, trading, core operations, and vendors) to diagnose and resolve issues and/or move the business forward. Performs and/or monitors more complex operational duties for investment vehicles servicing the Institutional, Retail, and High-Net Worth distribution channels. Performs trade confirmation, processing, settlement and claims for global equity markets. Identifies, recommends, and participates in continuous improvement activities.
Primary responsibilities/essential functions:
Core Production Responsibilities: Participates within a global team of Leads, Analysts and Associates to consistently and efficiently perform and/or monitor functions necessary to support the operational needs of investment vehicles and client accounts serviced by Trade Operations and external providers.
Combines subject matter expertise, business acumen, and systems knowledge to identify, assess, recommend, and participate in the implementation of the solution to achieve the needed outcome/result
Functional areas include trade confirmation and settlement, foreign exchange funding requirements, claims, reporting, and private placements across global markets.
Facilitates the onboarding of new accounts, and the maintenance and restructuring of accounts, by understanding and solving for unique requirements, including coordination with client relations and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Ensures transactions are handheld appropriately to meet global trading, client, and external requirements.
Researches and analyzes complex issues and recommends solutions. Identifies the root cause of issues to determine potential controls or process improvements.
Analyzes various reports and implements appropriate action to resolve exceptions between internal and external (i.e., broker, custodian bank) systems. Identifies and instructs internal and external sources to post or correct transactions via forms or online issue tracking tools.
Identifies and assesses business risk (i.e., lapsing critical deadlines, trade discrepancies, internal record inaccuracy, control breaks, financial exposure), determines impacts within the company and to the clients, and implements solutions to address issues.
For complex, large, and/or ambiguous issues, collaborates with the Lead or Manager to identify and assess options, identify stakeholders and groups that are impacted by an issue, and proactively engage with the different parties to determine and implement the needed course of action.
Interacts with an oversees relationships with a variety of internal and external parties (i.e., consultants, auditors, outsourcing providers) to ensure that project objectives are addressed using the appropriate level of confidentiality, when necessary.
May assess and monitor vendor performance against key performance indicators to ensure adherence to accuracy and timeliness standards as set forth in the service level agreements. Escalates issues to Leads and Managers.
Identifies process improvements. Leverages resources to gather facts, identify and escalate issues, and identify possible solutions. Discusses recommendations with Leads and implements best practices and/or process improvements.
In collaboration with the Lead, applies experience to make recommendations on workload allocation across the team.
Performs additional responsibilities, as needed.
Projects and Initiatives: Develops credibility and strong working relationships by partnering and collaborating with other associates, teams, and internal and external stakeholders to develop recommendations for cross functional solutions and enable the launch of new products, services, and technology.
Delivers small to moderately sized projects and/or serves as a team member for large/complex projects.
Participates in and drives continuous improvement initiatives within the team (from ideation to implementation) to achieve straight through processing, improve efficiency and effectiveness, and create capacity to focus on more complex and ambiguous issues (e.g., recommendations on process, ways of working, systems, priorities, etc.)
Collaborates with management to establish project plan and processes based on defined business initiatives and project objectives. Sets milestones and target dates, assigns tasks, and allocates resources to ensure timeliness of delivery. Communicates updates to managers and stakeholders.
Depending on focus, specific activities could include:
Support CG’s investment in complex investment instruments by developing an understanding of operational requirements, assessing process and system impacts, developing solutions, and supporting team and department readiness including participating or leading testing and training.
Partnering with IT and other teams to design system enhancements, develop testing scenarios, update relevant procedures and processes to ensure readiness of team to adopt changes, including training.
Understand impacts of regulatory requirement changes to team and department operations and systems and actively participates in working groups or project teams to solution.
Representing team in cross functional working groups to enable department and team readiness for the launch of new capabilities, products and systems.
Ad hoc
May attend and present at client meetings on topics including due diligence, processes and reporting.
Prepares and reviews responses and analyses to ad hoc requests for various parties, including auditors, clients and internal stakeholders.
Knowledge and Expertise: Develops, broadens, and applies knowledge, skills, experience, and sound judgement to analyze, formulate, resolve, and escalate complex/ambiguous challenges. Develops subject matter expertise for functions including trade confirmation, settlement, claims, client reporting inquiries, trade cover currency decisions, account onboarding, processes to support new products, regulatory compliance, private investing, and addressing ad hoc requests.
Demonstrates the ability to be self-driven to understand how and why things work, the financial industry and/or the connections between process and technology.
Serves as technical resource to team to resolve issues, and models appropriate communication, decision-making and interaction skills.
Participates in the technical training of other associates, including small group training in order to build the team’s foundation of knowledge. Provides feedback and observations to Lead regarding associate performance and development
Develops a working knowledge of upstream and downstream processes and systems to enable effective collaboration and issue resolution.
Consults with oversight and provides guidance on operational issues and technical questions.
Possesses a deep expertise on the core systems (internal and external) used to perform the role. Possess a working knowledge of overarching and tangential systems with which the core systems interact to understand, anticipate, and solve for up-stream and down-stream impacts.
Demonstrates working knowledge of the Capital System, Investment Process and range of investors and investment offerings to enable effective issue resolution.
Serves as a positive role model for other associates.
