Requirements
  • Ability to interact tactfully with guests and personnel, with good oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in fast food, deli, or restaurant environments is valuable but not required.
  • Understanding of safety requirements and company policies, with training in equipment and procedures including slicers, fryers, and hot bars.
  • Knowledge of perishable food and ability to work at a fast pace while multitasking in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with various kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace in changing temperatures across coolers, kitchens, freezers, and the sales floor.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Availability to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
  • Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, with adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences.
Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent guest service, including greeting guests, answering questions, and addressing concerns.
  • Help guests find items, answer questions, and provide deli recommendations.
  • Receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and special requests efficiently while following deli production schedules.
  • Maintain high-quality hot bar conditions and garnish items attractively while following item-shrink protocols.
  • Collect food temperatures and maintain hot food logs to ensure safety and quality standards.
  • Organize, stock, clean, and label the hot bar.
  • Address and resolve guest concerns using the boomerang principle.
  • Support the team by performing other duties as assigned.

Schnuck Markets Acquires Festival Foods

Schnuck Markets, Inc. has acquired 100% of the shares of Festival Foods and Hometown Grocers, Inc. through the 1939 Group, Inc., owned by the Schnuck family. The acquisition includes shares from CEO Mark Skogen and the Employee Stock Ownership Plan. The 1939 Group will maintain the existing store banners and corporate headquarters, with Todd Schnuck as Chairman and CEO. The transaction is expected to close in October, subject to customary approvals.
