About the company

Syndax Pharmaceuticals focuses on developing therapies for cancer. Its work centers on researching, testing through clinical trials, and commercializing cancer drugs, with an emphasis on difficult-to-treat cancers such as HR+ HER2- breast cancer. The company’s lead asset is Entinostat, which is being studied in combination with Exemestane for HR+ HER2- breast cancer; results from these trials will influence its growth and market position. Syndax funds its R&D and operations through capital raises and potential licensing or partnerships, and generates revenue by selling approved medicines. Its goal is to bring new cancer treatments to patients who have limited options by advancing promising oncology therapies and securing successful regulatory approvals and partnerships to scale those therapies.

What believers are saying

  • Second-quarter 2026 revenue hit $72.8 million, up 92%, driven by Revuforj and Niktimvo.
  • Revuforj prescriptions reached about 1,500 in 2Q26, showing accelerating physician adoption.
  • Axatilimab IPF and frontline cGVHD topline data are expected in 4Q26, creating near-term catalysts.

What critics are saying

  • Kura’s ziftomenib and J&J’s bleximenib pressure Revuforj’s KMT2Ar and NPM1 franchises.
  • July 14, 2026 added SNDX-4321 and SNDX-62122, but both remain pre-IND and years from revenue.
  • If Revuforj or Niktimvo adoption slows after 2026 readouts, Syndax loses its only durable cash engine.

What makes Syndax unique

  • Revuforj became the first FDA-approved menin inhibitor on November 15, 2024.
  • Niktimvo’s Incyte partnership co-commercializes axatilimab and splits profits without building a full sales force.
  • Syndax now owns both commercial revenue and wholly owned next-generation assets, SNDX-4321 and SNDX-62122.

Syndax shares fall as lung fibrosis drug fails trial.

Syndax shares fall as lung fibrosis drug fails trial. Syndax Pharma shares lost 17% of their value pre-market after the company said it abandoned development of a drug candidate for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). The decision was taken after the phase 2 MAXPIRe trial of anti-CSF-1R antibody axatilimab showed the drug was unable to slow down the rate of lung function decline in IPF patients compared to placebo over 26 weeks' follow-up. "Based on the results observed, Syndax does not plan to move forward with further development of axatilimab in IPF," said the company in a statement. Syndax is partnering with Incyte on the development of axatilimab, which is already approved as a treatment for chronic graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) in the US under the Niktimvo brand name. Shares in Incyte, which licensed rights to axatilimab from Syndax in a 2021 deal worth up to $600 million, also dipped slightly after the announcement. "The MAXPIRe trial did not meet its primary endpoint, and we are disappointed by this outcome, given the promising scientific rationale in IPF," said Syndax's chief medical officer and head of R&D, Nick Botwood. While Syndax and Incyte are continuing to study Niktimvo in cGVHD, seeking to move it earlier in the treatment pathway from its current third-line or later indication, there's no overplaying the impact of the IPF decision on the drug's peak sales prospects, given that the disease affects millions of people worldwide. "Axatilimab was well tolerated, with a safety profile consistent with prior studies supporting its continued development and use in cGVHD," said Botwood. "There are multiple trials underway in cGVHD where axatilimab has shown remarkable results, and we look forward to readouts from these trials later this year and in early 2028." Those include the phase 3 AXemplify-357 trial in newly diagnosed cGVHD as a combination with corticosteroids, and a phase 2 study in the frontline setting in a dual regimen with Incyte's JAK inhibitor Jakafi (ruxolitinib). Syndax' chief executive, Michael Metzger, said that the company remains confident that Niktimvo can pass the $1 billion annual sales threshold and become a blockbuster product. Total revenues were around $152 million last year and accelerated to $115 million in the first half of 2026. The truncated potential for Niktimvo means that Syndax will rely more heavily on its other approved product, oral menin inhibitor Revuforj (revumenib), which is indicated for relapsed or refractory acute leukaemia with translocations in the KMT2A gene and is being developed for other blood cancers. The company has predicted Revuforj could become a $2 billion-a-year product. 13 October, 2026

Diaceutics accelerates growth on precision medicine demand.

Diaceutics accelerates growth on precision medicine demand. Diaceutics LON:DXRX is entering the second half of 2026 with growing momentum, after a sharp increase in recurring revenue, a stronger order book and positive free cash flow coincided with an expanded partnership with US biopharma group Syndax Pharmaceuticals. The Belfast-based diagnostic intelligence company reported first-half revenue of £17.5m, up 20% year on year and 22% at constant currency. Annual recurring revenue (ARR) was the standout, rising 79% to £29.4m, while the order book increased 38% to £43.7m. The Armchair Trader tipped Diaceutics to its members at 155p on 11 September. The shares closed at 185.86p on Friday. The quality of that growth is also improving. Net revenue retention reached 149%, meaning the existing customer base generated substantially more recurring revenue than a year earlier, while gross ARR churn fell to 6%. Gross margin increased to 85% from 83%, and adjusted EBITDA swung from £57,000 to £1.1m. For shareholders, the move into positive free cash flow is particularly significant. Diaceutics generated £0.7m of free cash flow in the first half, an improvement of £3.1m on the previous year. The company ended June with £8.1m of cash and no debt, leaving it funded to pursue its organic growth strategy. Syndax partnership puts Relay in the spotlight. The latest evidence of Diaceutics' commercial traction came last week, when it announced an expansion of its multi-year Relay partnership with Syndax. The agreement will support the commercialisation of Syndax's precision oncology medicine for acute leukaemia, helping identify eligible patients sooner and supporting more timely access to treatment. The expanded relationship builds on a partnership signed in the fourth quarter of 2025. The financial terms have not been disclosed, but the strategic significance is clearer. Relay brings together Diaceutics' diagnostic regulatory planning, testing intelligence, concordance studies, scientific engagement and physician education into a single commercialisation model. That is important because precision medicines depend on patients being identified through the right diagnostic pathway. Diaceutics aims to use its data and intelligence to show pharmaceutical companies where eligible patients may be missed and help coordinate activity between laboratories, healthcare professionals and commercial teams. Relay is already showing encouraging traction. ARR from existing Relay relationships increased from £2.6m at contract inception to £4.3m at June 30, while the company said new customers were in the final stages of contract negotiations. Bigger market gives Diaceutics room to scale. The broader opportunity could be considerably larger than Diaceutics' historical focus on precision medicine. In September, the company launched its "Precision For All" repositioning, expanding its addressable therapy universe from about 250 precision medicine therapies to more than 1,100 diagnostic-driven therapies. That gives management a much larger potential customer base while allowing it to build on the same underlying diagnostic intelligence infrastructure. Diaceutics already works with 18 of the world's top 20 pharmaceutical companies, supporting 55 customers across 103 therapeutic brands. Its Signal product also saw ARR increase 46% during the first six months of the year and is now used across 55 brands, compared with 36 a year earlier. The company is continuing to invest in its DXRX platform, proprietary data and AI-enabled analytics, while redesigning its commercial and delivery model to support scale and improve operating leverage. Importantly, management has maintained its expectations for 2026. By the end of August, delivered revenue, contracted revenue and the risk-weighted commercial pipeline represented 107% visibility against the £46.7m median analyst consensus revenue estimate for the full year, up from 91% at the end of June. What the Armchair Trader thinks. Diaceutics' latest numbers suggest the business is moving beyond being an interesting healthcare data specialist and towards becoming a more predictable, recurring-revenue software and services company. The 79% increase in ARR is the headline number, but the 149% net revenue retention and falling churn are arguably more important because they show customers are expanding their relationships rather than simply signing once and leaving. The expanded Syndax partnership provides useful evidence that Relay can turn this infrastructure into deeper, multi-year commercial relationships. The risks remain: the company is still loss-making on a statutory basis, its growth depends heavily on winning and expanding pharmaceutical contracts, and the new addressable market will need to translate into actual revenue. Even so, the combination of high gross margins, improving cash generation, no debt and substantial pipeline visibility gives Diaceutics a solid platform. If management can sustain the current level of ARR growth while converting that scale into stronger statutory profitability, shareholders could have a particularly interesting growth story on their hands.
