Requirements
  • A doctorate in Music.
  • Evidence of experience and success in directing choirs and teaching in higher education.
  • Evidence of teaching conducting.
  • Ability to teach courses in other interdisciplinary areas.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Direct Rhodes College’s flagship concert choir, Rhodes Singers.
  • Teach conducting and courses in an area of specialization, such as history, theory, electronic music production, record engineering, composition, or computer music, as part of a 3/2 teaching load each academic year.
  • Bring expertise in broad and diverse choral works, including non-Western music, music of traditionally marginalized groups, and/or World music.
  • Develop a trajectory for research and/or creative activity.
  • Foster an inclusive learning environment where students from a wide variety of perspectives, beliefs, and backgrounds learn to engage in civil and respectful dialogue.
Desired Qualifications
  • College-level teaching experience.
  • Relevant industry and practical experience.
  • Courses that contribute to Rhodes College’s interdisciplinary programs.
