The Cheesecake Factory

View

The Cheesecake Factory operates casual-dining restaurants with a wide menu of entrees and a signature lineup of cheesecakes and other desserts. Guests order meals served in large portions, with desserts playing a central role in the dining experience, a concept rooted in the company’s bakery origins. It differentiates itself with a very large, eclectic menu and a dessert-forward identity that grew from a small bakery to a nationwide chain (CAKE). Its goal is to build a large, nationwide brand by offering generous portions and a broad menu centered around desserts and diverse main courses.

Cheesecake Factory beats forecasts with second $1B quarter, stays silent on Obama jab

The Cheesecake Factory posted its second straight quarter of billion-dollar earnings, beating Wall Street expectations even as fewer Americans dine out amid higher prices. Executives did not mention former President Barack Obama's jab on the campaign trail, when he said Donald Trump's gilded White House looked like "Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory." Retail analyst Neil Saunders of GlobalData Retail called silence the right move, saying "there is no mileage to be gained from entering this arena." The company did not respond to requests for comment. Chairman and chief executive officer David Overton cited "the enduring relevance of the brand." The stock has more than doubled since January and closed at $108 a share on October 27.

Cheesecake Factory posts $1.03B quarterly revenue, up 14%, amid Obama-Trump row

The Cheesecake Factory reported third-quarter revenue of $1.03 billion, up nearly 14% year-over-year, days after it was pulled into a political feud. Comparable sales at its restaurants rose more than 15%. Chief executive officer David Overton credited new menu items, a rewards program, and social media engagement. The quarter ended September 29, before the row began, so any boost from the headlines is not in these figures. The spat began Saturday when former president Barack Obama said President Donald Trump's White House looked like "Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory." Republicans rushed to defend the chain, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent ate at one on Monday. The company has not commented on the feud.

Bessent mocks Obama over lunch at Cheesecake Factory as stock jumps 120% this year

Cheesecake Factory (NASDAQ:CAKE) shares are up 120.15% this year, putting its market value at about $5.46 billion. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent lifted the chain's profile on Monday by dining at a Washington branch near the White House. Bessent was responding to former President Barack Obama, who joked at an Ohio rally that Trump had the White House "looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory." Trump also answered Obama on Monday. The rally rests on a record second quarter: revenue of $1.03 billion, its first quarter above $1 billion, and adjusted EPS of $1.44 against a $1.18 consensus. Restaurant-level margin hit 20%, a decade high. Management credited viral social media for part of the trend.
