Requirements
  • Ability to write work orders, parts requests, shift logs, routine reports, and correspondence.

  • At least two years of experience in an industrial setting required.
  • Two to six years of experience in an industrial setting in a similar role required for the mid-level qualification.
  • Experience with electrical controls.
  • Seven years of experience in an industrial setting in a similar role required for the advanced qualification.
  • Experience troubleshooting programmable logic controllers.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment, electrical wiring, relay logic, control circuits, safety circuits, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, precision measuring instruments, electrical testing devices, and electronic testing devices.
Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment using electrical diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer specifications while following safety procedures and Good Manufacturing Processes.
  • Use an electronic computerized maintenance management system on a mobile device to document work performed and work orders.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, including inspecting drives and belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, and other machinery parts.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain motors, pneumatics, electronic boards, programmable logic controllers, touch screens, displays, contactors, conveyors, blending, scaling, filling, cartoning, coding and printing, electrical, compressed-air, vacuum, hydraulic, and bulk-filling systems.
  • Work on single-phase and three-phase production and plant-support equipment ranging from 5 VDC to 480 VAC.
  • Use blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Teardown and rebuild gearboxes, clutches, actuators, and other assemblies related to equipment repairs.
  • Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts.
  • Clean machines and machine parts thoroughly, removing and reinstalling parts as necessary.
  • Fabricate parts, guarding, and equipment modifications for repairs and improvements.
  • Weld different grades of metal for repairs and fabrication using plant welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
  • Follow company policies, manufacturing practices, and safety practices.
  • Report food safety and quality problems promptly to personnel authorized to initiate corrective action.
  • Train junior or new technicians on equipment, procedures, and troubleshooting practices.
  • Train operators and other support staff in equipment operation, setup, and best practices.
  • Complete preventive maintenance, product changeovers, corrective maintenance, and breakdown maintenance as requested.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in the food manufacturing industry.
  • A two-year technical or community college degree.
  • A two-year Associate of Applied Science degree.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and electronic systems.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of programmable logic controller troubleshooting.
  • Advanced programmable logic controller troubleshooting skills.
  • Electrician's license.
  • Welding experience or certification.
  • Metal fabrication experience.
