Responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end financial close process, including general ledger, accounts payables, and accruals, delivering accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP
  • Account for R&D expenses, clinical trial accruals and prepaids, and CRO vendor arrangements, coordinating closely with clinical and operations teams to estimate accruals
  • Help design, implement, and maintain internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) in preparation for SOX compliance and public-company requirements
  • Support preparation and maintenance of financial statements and supporting schedules, ensuring disclosures are accurate, complete, and audit-ready
  • Manager Senior Accountant, fostering a high-performance team environment
  • Design, implement, and maintain a robust internal control environment appropriate for a company operating under public company accounting standards
  • Manage NetSuite as the system of record, partnering with FP&A on chart of accounts governance, reporting configuration, and process improvements

Genetically modified pig kidneys bridge two patients to human transplants for first time

Genetically modified pig kidneys have kept two kidney failure patients alive long enough to receive human organ transplants for the first time, according to biotech company EGenesis. Tim Andrews, a 66-year-old from New Hampshire, received a modified pig kidney in January 2025. The organ functioned for about nine months before failing, but kept him stable enough to survive until a human kidney became available. Andrews, who had been told he would likely die before receiving a transplant, felt immediate improvement after the pig kidney procedure. He could walk around freely without dialysis and regained his energy. EGenesis says a second patient also received a pig kidney that served as a successful bridge to a human transplant. The company hopes to make the organs widely available within approximately four years, pending further testing.

NATCO Pharma boosts eGenesis investment to $22M for organ transplant technology

NATCO Pharma Limited has increased its investment in eGenesis, Inc., a biotechnology company developing transplantable organs through genome engineering. The Indian pharmaceutical firm is adding $14 million to its stake, bringing its total investment to $22 million. The additional funding comes through NATCO Pharma (Canada) Inc. ($9.5 million) and NATCO Pharma South Africa Proprietary Limited ($4.5 million) via convertible promissory notes. This follows an initial $8 million investment in preferred stock made in 2024. eGenesis, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, uses its EGEN Platform to address organ shortages through genetic engineering. The company is developing programmes for kidney, liver, and heart transplants. In March 2024, eGenesis performed the world's first porcine kidney transplant in a living patient, authorised by the US FDA.
