Requirements
  • Five years of experience as an Information Systems Security Officer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Experience with current cybersecurity and security-management tools, hardware and software security implementation, communication protocols, or encryption techniques and tools.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university, with four additional years of ISSO experience permitted as a substitution.
  • DoD 8570 IAM Level I certification or higher, and compliance with applicable DoD 8570 requirements before performing the role.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with an NSA full-scope polygraph.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Information Systems Security Approval Authority for assigned systems.
  • Provide technical and compliance support for the organization's Information Assurance program.
  • Plan, coordinate, implement, and enforce IT security programs across multiple systems and projects.
  • Maintain the operational security posture of mission-critical information systems.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce information system security policies, standards, procedures, and methodologies.
  • Support day-to-day cybersecurity operations, including system monitoring, security reviews, and incident response activities.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, risk assessments, and security evaluations for system certification and accreditation activities.
  • Evaluate security solutions to ensure they protect classified and sensitive information as required.
  • Support system configuration management, change control, and security impact assessment activities.
  • Identify security risks, vulnerabilities, and compliance gaps, and coordinate mitigation or remediation activities.
  • Review system changes for potential impacts to security posture and authorization status.
  • Coordinate with system owners, engineers, administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and other stakeholders to maintain system compliance.
  • Prepare, maintain, and review cybersecurity documentation, including System Security Plans, Risk Assessment Reports, Certification and Accreditation packages, and System Requirements Traceability Matrices.
  • Support security reviews, assessments, audits, and other authorization-related activities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable cybersecurity tools, technologies, communication protocols, encryption methods, and security implementation practices.
