Requirements
  • At least 10 years of experience working in the mortgage industry with in-depth understanding of the loan lifecycle.
  • More than 5 years of comprehensive knowledge of the Encompass ecosystem, including Loan Origination System, Docs, EPC, Data Connect, and Optimal Blue.
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Background in mortgage technology with deep knowledge of residential loan origination operations, products, and processes.
  • Proven experience gathering and translating business requirements into system solutions, including analysis, implementation, and testing.
  • Strong understanding of system configurations, vendor customization tools, and packaged application frameworks.
  • Familiarity with information security standards, including user access and profile management.
  • Hands-on experience with configuration, business rules, forms, templates, workflow automation, and user permissions.
  • Experience managing integrations such as Blend, Optimal Blue, Total Expert, LoanVision, and application programming interfaces.
  • Experience with release management and system enhancement delivery.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background and credit check.
  • Schedule flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of the Loan Origination System platform, including vision, roadmap, and delivery.
  • Set the strategic direction for loan-related software applications, including the Loan Origination System, ancillary applications, loan document origination applications, and credit-related software solutions.
  • Participate with the UCMS President in periodically updating the UCMS IT Strategic Plan to incorporate loan-application-related roadmaps and initiatives.
  • Prioritize enhancements based on business value, regulatory requirements, operational pain points, and strategic initiatives.
  • Manage the product backlog, epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Evaluate new Encompass capabilities, ICE releases, and third-party solutions.
  • Lead the strategy, governance, administration, and continuous optimization of the Loan Origination System and related mortgage technology platforms.
  • Define and execute the Loan Origination System product roadmap, prioritizing enhancements, process improvements, and technology investments.
  • Own Loan Origination System configuration and system design, including business rules, workflows, milestones, forms, templates, custom fields, automation, security roles, and permissions.
  • Partner with senior leadership, business stakeholders, operations, compliance, and technology teams to identify business needs, improve processes, and enhance end-to-end loan lifecycle performance.
  • Translate operational requirements into functional specifications, technical solutions, and system enhancements as the primary liaison between business users and technology teams.
  • Manage the mortgage technology ecosystem, including integrations with point-of-sale platforms, automated underwriting systems, pricing engines, document generation and electronic signature solutions, verification providers, and third-party vendor systems.
  • Oversee the system enhancement lifecycle, including intake, prioritization, business analysis, testing, deployment, issue remediation, change management, and post-production support.
  • Lead user acceptance testing, production readiness activities, and release governance.
  • Drive process automation and workflow optimization initiatives to reduce manual effort, improve data quality, increase operational efficiency, and shorten loan cycle times.
  • Ensure system integrity, data governance, operational controls, and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including HMDA and TRID, audit standards, and internal policies.
  • Evaluate system and process changes for compliance, risk, and operational impact.
  • Administer system security, user access, permissions, and role-based controls.
  • Manage relationships with ICE Mortgage Technology and other strategic vendors, including vendor performance, issue escalation, contract deliverables, and product roadmap discussions.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, consultation, and operational support for Loan Origination System-related issues.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, training materials, and user enablement resources.
  • Coach, develop, and manage the performance of employees.
  • Travel up to 25%.

United Community has appointed Tom Speir as executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective 8 September. Speir brings over 20 years of financial experience, including balance sheet management, M&A, strategic planning, and investor relations.
