Requirements
  • An M.D. or D.O. degree from an American Board of Internal Medicine-recognized internal medicine residency is required.
  • Valid American Board of Internal Medicine certification in Pulmonology is required.
  • A valid and unrestricted Florida medical license, or eligibility to apply, is required.
  • The physician must maintain continuing medical education to meet institutional and state licensing requirements.
  • The physician must have clinical knowledge and experience, especially in transplant nephrology, to provide safe, quality patient care and meet institutional standards of care.
  • The physician must have interpersonal skills to communicate with staff, patients, and family members.
  • The physician must demonstrate the ability to meet the responsibilities of the position.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct outpatient care to adult patients, including pre- and post-transplant patients, in the Miami Transplant Institute faculty practice and satellite clinics.
  • Provide direct inpatient care to adult patients, including pre- and post-transplant patients, at Jackson Memorial Hospital and the University of Miami Hospital.
  • Participate in the Critical Care rotation, providing 24/7 coverage for direct inpatient care for adult patients, including pre- and post-cardiothoracic transplant, left ventricular assist device, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, and cardiac surgery patients.
  • Collaborate clinically with the transplant team, including Cardiology, Pulmonology Surgeons, and other patient consultants.
  • Attend multidisciplinary transplant conferences and rounds.
  • Precept trainees in inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Participate in medical student, resident, and fellow education.
Desired Qualifications
  • Specialized training in transplant pulmonology after fellowship is highly desired.
  • Experience working and teaching in an academic setting is highly desired.
