Requirements
  • One year of experience working with physicians and/or in physician contracts.
  • Two years of experience working in healthcare, preferably for a hospital or health system.
Responsibilities
  • Construct and actively negotiate agreements for physician employment, physician services, and independent contractors for more complex agreement types, ensuring appropriate language and compliance with institutional policies, Medicare fraud and abuse statutes, Stark regulations, and Internal Revenue Service and Immigration and Naturalization Service requirements, in conjunction with internal and external legal counsel.
  • Independently obtain Fair Market Value opinions from external consulting firms.
  • Collaborate with leadership to construct and critically critique statements of business necessity in accordance with Physician Contracting protocol.
  • Aggregate data and perform financial analysis to assist in decision-making.
  • Lead the development of training programs for hospital departments and units regarding the Legal Database, contracting processes, locum tenens processes, and roles and responsibilities.
  • Assist with developing and implementing physician contracting standards, policies, and procedures for the contracting process for each Northside entity.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain essential data related to physician contract origination and administration, and serve as a resource to Physician Contracts Administrator I.
  • Ensure that each physician contract is supported by essential documentation, including approval signatures, Fair Market Value analysis, commercial reasonableness, and a statement of business necessity.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of contract and compensation information.
  • Follow system and departmental document retention policy and ensure that all agreements are tracked and retained.
  • Serve as a contact for supporting departments involved in physician contracting, including clinical service line leaders, Human Resources, Billing, Managed Care, Risk Management, the Medical Staff Office, and Finance.
  • Assist with maintaining physician compensation survey data and performing internal calculations of value and Fair Market Value as needed.
