  • The candidate must stay current on sales and marketing techniques and changes in state and federal law affecting the company's sales efforts and insurance industry.
  • Experience in recruitment and management of an insurance sales force is required for the wholesaler duties.
  • The hired associate must reside within 35 miles of the Milwaukee office.
  • This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization.
Responsibilities
  • Target and build relationships with licensed health insurance agents and brokers by phone, email, and in-person meetings to sell Nationwide's small-group health insurance products.
  • Prospect, execute requests for proposals, and facilitate the full sales cycle.
  • Evaluate agent performance and continually recruit new agents.
  • Provide guidance to agents in developing selling strategies to obtain new and retain existing business.
  • Travel throughout the territory for relevant sales meetings and seminars, up to 20 percent.
  • Use the internal sales tracking system to validate and record sales calls, quotes, and recruited brokers.
  • Consult with agents throughout the sales process.
  • Provide timely communication to agents on product offerings, network changes, rate changes, and plan designs.
  • Recruit, train, motivate, and develop producers throughout assigned areas in the region.
  • Recruit new producers, establish growth objectives for assigned producers, support sales production and premium growth objectives, and service and conserve insurance in force.
  • Make qualified calls on groups with producers and provide enrollment support on a new producer's first accounts.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with sales support, underwriting, policyholder services, billing support, compliance, commission accounting, home-office personnel, and field management.
  • Contribute to effective relationships between producers and home-office departments.
  • Analyze markets, formulate recruiting programs, and secure producers who will produce quality premiums.
  • Work with producers to add value to their existing book of business and develop new opportunities.
  • Implement and monitor procedures to improve persistency of business written in the assigned area.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two or more years of sales-related experience is preferred but not required.
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience is preferred.
  • CEBS, CLU, and/or ChFC designation is preferred.

Nationwide has reported record financial results for 2025, entering its centennial year with total adjusted capital of $32.8 billion, the highest in its 100-year history.
