About the job

Requirements
  • Typically 3–7 years of professional experience, although demonstrated capability, judgment, and rate of growth matter more than tenure.
  • Experience in private equity, growth equity, venture capital, public-markets investing, or top-tier strategy consulting; candidates from a founder’s office, investment banking, or an early-stage operating role may also be considered if they demonstrate comparable judgment, analytical rigor, and ownership.
  • Exceptional judgment and the ability to quickly identify the core of an unfamiliar issue, distinguish signal from noise, form an independent view with incomplete information, and anticipate downstream implications.
  • Exceptional writing and communication ability, including turning complex or unfinished thinking into clear, concise, persuasive communications and learning to draft naturally in another person's voice.
  • High agency, low ego, and the ability to identify what needs to happen and execute it, including both important details and major decisions.
  • Strong organization, responsiveness, reliability, and capacity to manage significant work volume in a fast-moving environment while preserving context, remembering commitments, anticipating downstream needs, and closing loops.
  • Excellent interpersonal instincts, confidence, and discretion to earn trust and engage credibly with founders, investors, board members, senior executives, and teammates at every level.
  • Genuine interest in artificial intelligence, healthcare, investing, and company creation, with comfort using current artificial intelligence tools.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a trusted thought partner to the Managing Partner by identifying priorities, clarifying important questions, pressure-testing alternatives, and recommending a path forward.
  • Advance the Managing Partner’s highest-priority work by clarifying decisions, establishing owners and timelines, resolving blockers, and closing loops.
  • Develop and retain deep context across priorities, relationships, meetings, and commitments to anticipate needs, prepare for and attend selected meetings, and handle matters on the Managing Partner’s behalf when appropriate.
  • Draft and, where appropriate, send emails, introductions, follow-ups, memos, presentations, and updates to investors, partners, and portfolio companies in the Managing Partner’s voice and judgment.
  • Prepare the Managing Partner for board, investor, partner, customer, recruiting, and executive conversations with concise context, a clear point of view, and a recommended outcome.
  • Partner with the Managing Partner on new-company formation, portfolio strategy, financings, strategic partnerships, executive recruiting, organizational development, and firm-building, owning the analysis, coordination, communications, and follow-through.
  • Build working relationships across Aegis, its portfolio companies, investors, health-system partners, and external stakeholders to bring the right people together and move work forward.
  • Create reliable systems for managing priorities, information, relationships, and commitments, using artificial intelligence where it materially improves speed or quality.
  • Move between strategic work and detailed execution, taking ownership of the actions that increase the Managing Partner’s and Aegis’s effectiveness.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior healthcare experience is not required, but interest in healthcare is valued.

Yale-born fetal brain monitoring startup Wavelet secures $7M to prevent birth injuries

Wavelet Medical has secured $7 million in seed funding from Aegis Ventures to commercialise the first non-invasive, AI-powered fetal electroencephalography monitoring platform. The technology, developed at Yale, aims to detect fetal brain distress in real time and prevent avoidable brain injury at birth. Founded by Liz Golden, Dr Emily Lee and Dr Jose Cortes-Briones, Wavelet uses EEG captured through the mother's abdomen and reconstructed with AI algorithms to identify neurological distress, addressing limitations of traditional fetal heart rate monitoring, which is indeterminate in up to 85% of births. The platform targets a significant problem: over 35,000 infants suffer birth-related brain injuries annually in the US alone. Wavelet's partnership with Aegis Ventures will accelerate product development, clinical adoption and commercialisation of the technology.
